friendly when signing up.
Taking a long time to process a claim, tried to talk me into canceling claim before giving me the full price all up with clothing and bike repairs.

Shannon's call centre staff were great, they seemed to be from an onshore call centre and were very understanding of our needs.
Here is where the process could be improved - in order to get an assessment of our broken fridge we needed to be contacted by a company in Sydney (within 2 business days), once they are in touch they get a local company to come and assess the motor ( 2 more business days), the local company then writes up a report (2 more business days) this is then passed to the company in Sydney who review the report and write another report for Shannons (4 business days) this report is then passed to Shannons who agree to help with a replacement by sending a request to Harvey Norman (2 business days) who then call a local branch and agree delivery of the product (2 more business days). I think you can see the issue here - it's a perfectly fine process but once you add up all of the business day Service Level Agreements you end up with about 3 weeks worth of time, at best, from calling Shannons to receiving a replacement fridge. I imagine that this process could be streamlined.
Other than that I can't speak highly enough about them - they were able to source a replacement fridge at an excellent price that we put the claim money against and we couldn't be happier with our new fridge.

Received news today from Suncorp Assessor that he has decided to repair the bike stating "there was no structural damage" and "call the repairer for any more info". I am amazed they have chosen to repair the bike given how sick it sounded. Repairer says ETA is anywhere from 28 days to 10 weeks! I was stupefied that the assessor decided in his infinite wisdom not to write my bike off. He didn't even do an inspection of the bike, his decision was based purely on pictures taken by repairer, the repair quote & $$ value!
I will be taking the bike to a proper qualified bike mechanic after it is returned to me to get a proper check done to ensure there is no internal or structural damage that the repairer or Shannons is hiding. If anything like this is found, I will be asking why the bike was classified as "To be repaired", rather than a "repairable write off". May have to seek legal advice depending on outcome.
My advice to any prospective motorcycle insurance purchasers is to avoid Shannons at all costs. Customer Service is almost non-existent. They are quick to take your money and promise the earth but fail to deliver! I guess you don't know how bad an insurance company is until you have a claim with them.
Suffice to say, I will not be renewing with Shannons when my renewal is due and will avoid Suncorp companies at all costs as well.

I'm 50yo, max no claim bonus, no accident history, bike stays in locked garage. So apparently Shannon's believe their policy is worth 3 times as much???
If you're looking for bike insurance, look elsewhere.

Recently I submitted a claim for a Mustang windscreen, which has a large and obvious forward facing Ford logo at the top in front of the rear view mirror. I was sent to OBriens who told me that their screens don't have the logo. I asked Shannons to approve an oem screen due to the difference in appearance and...wait for it...they declined stating 'the policy only talks about functionality' about ten times. When I finally got it through to someone that the car would actually look visibly different with the OBriens screen, which is something that's important to an enthusiast, and maybe someone with discretionary power should be made aware of the situation they escalated to a manager after a 28 minute hold. The manager then went down the '....policy only says functionality must be the same...' path a few times before I had to point out that I already know what it says but the people writing the policy probably didn't conceive of a situation such as this as screens aren't usually an active part of the car's appearance. I asked if this means they could insist on the use of other non oem body parts that were functionally the same, but changed the appearance of the car, but predictably was met with silence and an offer to escalate it to a dispute. Goodness me folks, I don't want a dispute I want common sense. I know the outcome...'the policy says....'
The marketing of Shannons being tailored towards enthusiasts or largely different to any other insurer is misleading, and what people once appreciated is sadly long gone. Their only real point of difference is choice of repairer but GIO has this too. Essentially you're dealing with Suncorp and when you talk to a person who answers the phone 'Shannons' they also answer calls with 'Suncorp'. I suspect they'll keep taking the same money but increasing profit by providing rubbish service such as SmartRepair, and that the Shannons brand will disappear in the not too distant future.

Got my renewal for my harley and my car both insured with agreed value to which i pay extra on my policy, anyway my agreed value has dropped $800.00 for my bike and car by $452.00 so that a loss of value of $1282.00 including my renewal which went up by $30.00 oh and no claims during this period.
Look at the fine print i was told they have the right to change prices according to market value, so why did i pay extra for agreed value, its all crap they are no better that all the rest,
Will be looking around for someone who doesn't lie, so over this company

You have a tree take out stairs to your house, eventually after about 3 months of taking your life in your hands to get to your door they will FINALLY send someone to fix it.
The crappy workmen they send will do a terrible job and use old broken materials even tho they claim its all new for old. They will leave untreated arsenic wood for a bannister against Australian recommendations and despite the fact that there is a 3-year-old using the premises and the increased risk to young children.
They will also fail to do several of the repairs despite been told saying they don’t need to. The work men will fail to repair things they broke during the fixing process and leave your bbq at a 45 degree angle with nothing holding it so it falls and breaks meaning it may not be safe to turn on. Nearly another 3 months will go by during which time they will not fix the problem and even paint the wood… a huge block of wood will nearly fall on your sons head nearly killing him.
When you go to there site and email them you will get a really unhelpful [word removed] that will tell you I don’t know “but my guess is”… rather then actually going and finding out…
There will be no concern due to negligence of their contractor, or them I can’t be sure, That your son nearly killed, that your stuff got broken or that your son is been exposed to unacceptable risk due for months on end.
Also when you ask who their regulator is they will not answer.
As I said do not buy insurance from Shannons ever!!!
They will put lives in danger with no concern what so ever.
Still waiting for thing to be fixed from storms in April.
