I have used State Roads inspection 3 or 4 times now. Their reports are extremely detailed which always have assisted me in making a purchase with confidence. Their report have also saved me from buying a heavily repaired car with full service history, which was a repairable write off from a hail storm with a fake service history. I am a returning customer and I will continue to use State Roads' services, their inspection is worth every dollar and also a great negotiation tool against not-so-honest car dealers

I used the lads twice, first they saved me from buying an absolute dud and second was for my current car. It runs like a dream and has no issues. I work away and not able to view cars easily, this service completely removed the worry of trying to figure out if they seller was having me on. Prompt and thorough. Would recommend

I have used State Roads over the past 6 years to inspect a multitude of vehicles located in Melbourne, Sydney, Grafton & Gold Coast. Each time the phone staff have been extremely helpful & knowledgeable about their services offered. Their inspectors are amazing. These guys are so professional & have helped me to steer clear from a number of bad choices. They always call after the inspection to give a clear verbal report of what they've seen & then follow up with an extremely detailed report accompanied by photos. I've had other cheaper providers inspect vehicles in a couple of remote areas but they've never ever been as thorough as State Roads. I'd be happy to recommend their service to anyone.

I'm located in Perth Western Australia and faced a dilemma when I found the perfect car for sale, at a dealership in New South Wales.
I investigated the option of having the vehicle checked over by a large "motoring organisation" there and was ready to happily book with them, when I noticed the advert for State Roads. I noted that their vehicle inspection was far more thorough than the one I had been about to book, so I investigated further, as I wanted to be sure that this vehicle (being a Japanese used import) was all it was meant to be.

One call to Jo had me convinced that I was onto a winner! She not only knew a great deal about the inspection process, but was extremely prompt with email communications and booking. I proceeded to book a "Platinum Inspection" with them as this offered the best level of investigation for my needs.
They had a technician on his way to the vehicle about 90 minutes after my booking! Same Day! They liaised direct with the dealer and made all arrangements, leaving me free to get on with my day. Payment process was easy and correctly noted on my bank statement.
Later that afternoon I received a phone call from John, the technician/mechanic. He called me from his mobile as soon as he left the dealers yard and spent 15 minutes on the phone with me, going in to great detail about the condition of the vehicle. He was very friendly and explained everything in simple terms. He covered ALL areas from tyre wear, condition of brakes, suspension, exhaust, steering, chassis and under-body. Interior, trim & seats, wear and marks on carpet. Operation of sunroof. Indicators, lights, camera's mirrors, all electrical and power optioned components including load test on battery, (importantly) Engine, transmission & cooling system including pressure testing of radiator and several tests on engine internals including Co2 test for head gasket leakage and checks on conditions of oils & fluids. Most impressive of all was the fact that John plugged a "Diagnostic Computer" into the vehicle to check for any faults (or tampering) that may have been present within the extremely intricate electrical system of the imported car. (No other inspection service that I'd considered, was offering this).
He drove the vehicle and got up to freeway speed to ensure all systems operated as they should, including engine and transmission in operational conditions. He assured me that the vehicle was in very good condition and drove well. He had even done a non-invasive check on the "Thickness of the Paint" on the car, to indicate if the vehicle had been repaired/repainted previously! Amazing! (Again, Nothing like this level of investigation was offered from the other inspection services that I saw).
After my conversation with John I felt very reassured that I had chosen well when I booked State Roads, but it didn't finish there! John said that his phone was always on and if I had any further questions about this vehicle, that I was welcome to call him at any time (including after hours WA time). Above and Beyond Service!

A short time later that same afternoon, I received an emailed copy of the Very detailed and comprehensive report, covering about 250 points of investigation in a check-list style format, with multiple comments noted below as well. I was very pleased to also receive 46 clear and detailed photo's of many parts of the vehicle including interior, underside & various read-outs & displays of the diagnostic equipment in action on the vehicle, all taken throughout the entire inspection process, including kerbside shots taken during test drive. They even did a PPSR (Serial Number Search), check on the car to ensure it had not been written off or stolen or had money owing on it, and I received an emailed copy of that certificate same day.

Wow, what a service! Far more thorough than I could Ever have done myself and at a very affordable price.

I bought the vehicle (unseen) based on the inspection & report I received from State Roads! Their service saved me at least a thousand of dollars in airfares, accommodation and time and provided me with more knowledge about the vehicle than I could ever have possibly gotten by looking at it on my own!
If you're buying a car, you owe it to yourself to use these guys. I won't buy another vehicle until it's had a State Roads inspection! If for nothing else than just peace of mind.

We used State Roads recently to inspect two cars with similar features, mileage and condition. The service was excellent from Jo when arranging the booking to John who undertook the detailed inspections. We would be more than happy to recommend this service to anyone in need of a thorough and comprehensive pre-purchase inspection!

cost $340 but checked everything the information provided allowed me to make a decision Not to buy due to faults found by inspection report and buy phone call by mechanic who did the tests and was able to use language i could understand and answered all questions asked.Would use again and recommend

I had been searching the internet for some months to find the right car at the right price. I found a VW that I was interested in although it was interstate. I was referred to State Roads by my son who had used them on 3 occasions when he was looking for a car, so I knew how comprehensive their inspections were. I contacted them on a Monday and they arranged to have the inspection done the next day. After the inspection was completed I received a text from the mechanic informing me that the inspection was completed and that I could contact him for a verbal appraisal as well as informing me that a detailed report (pictures included) would be sent to me email later that day, which it was. I was extremely impressed by the professionalism of the mechanic and the thorough inspection that was conducted. I would definitely used this service again and cannot recommend them highly enough.

Hi I have had a car inspected today in Melbourne by stateroads vehicle inspections at Springvale.
The first thing I would like to say is the lady that I spoke to in the office was very helpful and made
Me feel comfortable with buying a car myself with no help from my partner as he knows less then
Me about cars. I decided to go with the full platinum report as this was the best option for me
with no experience with cars at all and dealing with a car dealer.
The inspector was onsite when I arrived like they said he would so was great for a change.
The inspector I used was Flavio and he went through the car with great detail and I was amazed
With what a diagnostic scan showed up with the computer in the car and was interesting to say the least.
The other thing great was the depth he went through looking for previous accident repairs and found
Some repainted panels but could see there was no structural damage from previous accident repairs.
Also the time he spent explaining the details with me and told me things in layman’s terms so I could understand.
I had no idea this type of service was available at first and am grateful to my friend telling me about this company.

bought a car after an inspection, within 1 week had a cracked head and now 2 weeks later a broken harmonic balancer car cost 16000 now cost another 5600 within 3 weeks got an inspection so I had piece of mind but then when I told the company they had the inspector call me who said not his problem was good when he looked at it big waste of money and a shocking service

was recommended these guys by easyauto123 and honestly quite disappointed
report stated that tyres had 70% of life remaining and battery was in good condition
took the car for its first service today (have driven roughly 8,000kms) and have had to spend $1k to replace tires (unroadworthy and alignment was extremely bad) and new battery, would have thought this would have been picked up on by the report that cost me $300

We found a 2 year old BMW in Sydney that was $8000 cheaper than what we could find locally but not having the opportunity to view the car we phoned around and chose to engage state roads platinum inspection. The whole process was a breeze from enquiry to speaking with the mechanic, we received a 12 page report and 52 photos showing various points of the car. The mechanic was very knowledgable and found that the car had been involved in a collision and the air bags have been set off, the car looks great in the sellers pictures however this was obvious when looking at the photos showing the welding and rust underneath. We almost placed a deposit on this car especially after obtaining a history report which had no record of this. Thanks State Roads you saved us from a huge lemon, will definately recommend and use you again.

Booked inspection with Jo on Tuesday morning, inspection completed Wednesday afternoon.
Steve (vehicle inspector) called me when he finished to discuss findings, concerns and recommendations (verbal advice of his findings).
A 6 page report and over 30 pictures arrived about 15 minutes later.
Steve was straightforward and honest with the check and recommendations.

I had my first experience with stateroads today. The report I got back was extensive and interesting. The mechanic, Anthony, did a magnificent job and was very plesant and professional to speak to. The receptionists are lovely to! I would recommend this company.

I had a classic car inspected by Trevor on the 22.04 2020 ,he went over and be on with so many photos out lining all the faults . Saved me alot of money & a major head ache.

I initially went to use "Redbooks" but they could not give me any specifics, i wanted an inspection done on the same day i was calling (i called approx 8am).
Nevertheless i booked using their online system, and when i called to confirm they could not commit.
So i cancelled.
I stumbled on State Roads, they picked up the phone super quickly, when i asked for it to be done today, the guy laughed and said he will do his best. 1 minute on hold and he came back with a yes!
The inspector came out and did a full inspection, he then called me and gave me a comprehensive break down of what was good and bad about the car. I got the report through not more than 20 minutes after inspection done.
Very impressed.

Hello State Roads
I found what I thought was an excellent 1955 FJ Holden at a forthcoming classic car auction in Adelaide, and, as I live interstate, I chose State Roads to inspect the car for me. Having used another (very poor) inspection service, I was apprehensive to say the least, but I was very impressed by the friendliness and efficiency of the reception staff at State Roads / Carchex. I asked that the inspector, Brett, look at certain specific points in the car, which he did. After the inspection had been carried out, Brett called me, describing the car's condition thoroughly. He then sent me a very detailed 12-page report, together with a very impressive collection of photographs which he had taken. When I saw and read of the car's condition - mechanical and body - it nearly turned my stomach. That "bomb" had been given an excellent "review" by one of the auction employees, and, incredibly, by a local car club member who knew the car, and had even driven it, saying it had no filler and no rust!!! It had plenty of both!!!! How it passed “full” registration over many years is beyond me. It very clearly shouldn’t have. I shudder to think what I would have done without Brett, his excellent report and those photos! Thanks so very much Brett, and State Roads. I'll recommend you.

Anthony was able to fit in a last minute Roadworthy Inspection/Safety Certificate for a car I purchased through a dealer in Victoria and brought up to Queensland.

In the end I was able to register the car that same day.
