Our students have used the courses and website of The Medic Portal for a number of years and have always found their materials to be excellent. The UCAT course is especially helpful and we have also use their online BMAT preparation for students. The up to date medical news and the application and interview advice are second to none and we recommend that any of our potential medics sign up to the site for updates.

Students were given an hour lunch , and finished 45 mins early . My daughter was quite disappointed with whole day . Considering I believe nearly 99 % medical schools use mmi format this should have been included . U certainly would have had time . A wasted £175. Your emails are generally good .

I attended the public UCAT course; and although the content was good and I could ask all the questions I needed, the quality of the interface was pretty appalling and we spent 20 minutes trying to get the stream to work. All in all, it wasn't particularly engaging and felt quite long. The information provided; however, was extremely useful and most of it was not available anywhere else. In particular, the verbal reasoning technique was beyond helpful. I wouldn't go for it if you are just struggling with one section of the UCAT, because the course is long, and you'll be waiting a while for relevant information. The course would probably be best for someone very new to the UCAT, or someone really struggling with two or more sections.

It was not necessary to have two interviewers for the panel interview, one would have been sufficient. The other medical student would have been more useful in the classroom setting. I would have liked more MMI style practice and less classroom lecturing style to allow us to practice more. Moreover the useful feedback was quite limited. I do not know if third year medical students who have only done one cycle of interviews in their lives, were really the correct people to be giving this course, although they did do a good job. Perhaps people who would actually be on the interview panel would be better to run this course.

Really useful experience which spurred me into action just before I went to my first medical school interview just before Christmas and others next month. Definitely a positive and useful course to go through as it prepared me for the MMI set up and the timings involved.

I recently did the UCAT day course and found it to be of minimal use. The content was stretched out over the course of the day but the stuff of actually use could easily have been condensed into 2hrs.

The teacher read off the slides and was not that engaged with the content.

It would have been better to have more practice questions and go through tactics for those questions rather than generic skills for answering questions.

I was very disappointed given the cost of the course and how much I got out of it.

I went along to an Edinburgh session; the team were a mix of Scottish and rUK which was good. They were high calibre and able to look for weaknesses.
The actor was brilliant, I know this is an area to work on for me especially sharing bad news (still
hoping Whiskers the cat has now been found safely) felt like a hard gym session but very much essential if you are to be more composed in the MMI itself.
Format is good, paired up with a random which is really good for seeing their approach to the stations with no prior knowledge of them [much how your interviewer will view you]. Two full laps with alternating turns means you get a pass as each type of station, albeit with a different card and scenario so I watched a discussion on Euthanasia & assisted dying but got a different ethical station myself. Was sceptical about this ‘as if you are doing 20 stations... but credit where credit due the observation part is really worthwhile.)

I recently went on the Medic MMI course which was really good as it was good practicing with complete strangers and the booklet provided was very helpful. The thing I would improve however would be to give the students a copy of the questions asked when we were leaving.
I also use the site regularly for interview preparation and it is incredibly helpful as there is lots of useful information however sometimes that information is quite difficult to find so I would recommend creating more of a structure to be able to find stuff.

I attended the medic portal course in Newcastle to help boost my UCAT Score. The course was held in a hotel which was easy to find. The speaker of the course was friendly and helpful, and explained techniques for each section very well. I think the course was an efficient way to start my UCAT practice (which I paired with doing daily questions for a month before my exam). All UCAT courses are pricey but I think TMP has a competitive price, which if you’re willing to pay, I would recommend you do.

TMP Aspire 2019: The Ultimate Conference for Aspiring Medics.

Great intro to UK Unis' admission process, ideal for Y10/Y11/Y12 who have already made their minds up and want to find out how to maximize their chances.

I did a MMI course back in December with the Medic Portal. The interviews were really realistic, it really felt like you were at a proper interview. The interviewers were very helpful in their feedback and advice. It was very well organised, and I found the booklet they provided to be of invaluable use. The idea of going around the circuit twice in pairs I though also worked really quite well. Overall, I though it was a really useful experience and would definitely recommend it.

A great day at RI - we left fully informed about the application process to Med school. My daughter has just started Yr 12 and this has helped us immensely. Thank you

I attended the course with my daughter who is currently in Year 11 and it was extremely informative and well presented. I would highly recommend anyone attending the course who is interested in going down the route of medicine.

Attended TMP Aspire with my daughter at the Royal Institution on Saturday 14th. An event aimed at aspiring medics. Turned out to be unmissable. Really well structured, with genuinely interesting presentations and all expertly delivered. My daughter came away undaunted by what lies ahead, in part because although it's a demanding process there are organisations and people out there that can and want to help. Everyone that spoke was enthusiastic, passionate and insightful. Without hesitation I'd recommend this to anyone starting out on a career in medicine... parents and their children alike.

The teacher was really clear in putting across his point. He even tried his best to engage everyone into the course. But the only concern was that the audio was very very glitchy so there were times where hearing him was a difficulty. yes I would definitely recommend this to someone else.

I attended the BMAT course and the interview session for oxbridge and MMI and I have secured a place in Peterhouse Cambridge.
I found the interview course really useful and would encourage other students preparing to go for it.

I was surprised that despite spending 150 pounds- nor tea or coffee was provided at the very least? Really not value for money. Comments from interviewers seemed a bit too nice and I felt they were holding back sometimes- which isn’t the point. One acting station didn’t have a person marking??

The booklet provided was good.

I think if you are someone with not a lot of interview experience then this is good or if you are anxious about the process. However if you are a bit older and have done some professional interviews (and felt confident) then you might not need this.

The people running the course were generally very polite.

This has saved us 2 weeks prep and is the perfect springboard for a good UCAT score. Ben was great and online format worked really well.
