Saw the awesome cash back bonus on signing up for this card, $500 spend with $200 cash back, can’t go wrong. The online banking is easy to navigate as well.

October 10th 2019 Update: Good low rate credit card

Good low rate credit card, great incentive for getting new customers in the door. Customer service was fantastic. Had the card for almost 6 months and used it several times

If you’re slightly late paying your credit card or loan back they will call you from a private number roughly 6 times a day. Pretty disgusting. I just switched banks and I’m a lot happier. Can’t wait to pay off my credit card and close the account.

I applied for a small credit card when going on holidays earlier this year and still have and love it. Its great for all of those just in case moments when you know you have a big bill or expence to pay and want to leave money in your account. I just put it on the credit card and pay it off over the month. I never have an outstanding balance at the end of the month so i pay no interest. I was one of those people who have seen people around them get into alot of trouble with credit card debt and have vowed to never get one but the Westpac Low Rate Visa card has helped our family out alot.
Low fee, 55 days interest free, no reward gimics, just a great credit card for those just in case moments

The card is actually a good one for who don't spend too much every month and who who don't always pay in full by the due date
The 55 interest free day is a good feature in addition to the low rate of 11.99% as advertised. Their customer service centre is of excellent quality,promised to make you 100% happy and satisfied whenever you need any help or have any enquiries!!
They keep increasing the rate all the time and there is no rewards program associated with this card. In fact, those programs are added to the Altitude card.

I once had a dispute with my credit card with fraud and once when my items got stolen. Both occassions, I rang up Westpac and they were quick to help me with a solution and both times, I was impressed with their effectiveness in which they handled the matter.
Low annual fee. 55 days interest free when I first got the card.
At the moment, the card still works fine for me.

The low rate of 11.99% for purchases and 17.73% for cash advances makes this card up there with the best.
No reward programs but the low interest is a more important factor, besides it comes from an actual bank, also very handy if you are already an existing westpac customer as you can pay your monthly bills online simply by transferring the money straight over instantly.
You never get hassled by the bank, the card can be linked to other accounts. Only $45 annual card fees.
This card is perfect for someone who doesn't need all the exra's, just a simple card with low interest charges
this Card has no hidden fees and charges, very straight forward, very competitive low rate 11.99%

After being with Westpac for years and leaving in dismay, I tried one more time - what a big mistake. This bank moves with glacial speed (almost none), there is no pro-activity, no responses to e-mails, you just wait for days and days for nothing. I have been approved for many credit cards immediately or in 1-2 business days - this bank, you just wait for the icebergs to melt !!!

I wouldn't try Westpac again if it was the last bank on earth.

We had $88,000 in damages and loss of rent due to tenant malicious damage ( including police reports, tenant admitting to malicious damage ), but WBX LL insurance deemed $80,000 to be what they called tenant neglect and poor house keeping, which isn't covered. Went to ombudsman and they sided with WBC.

WBC deemed that deliberate flooding of bathroom by tenant for 6 months was deemed tenant neglect and poor house keeping.

Note that this was introduced wording into policy after it was taken out.

We went into several WBC / BoM / StG branches to inquire about

I am very pleased with the Westpac Altitude Gold Visa card. I found that Westpac have been really good to deal with. The call centre staff generally have good product knowledge and can confidently answer my queries. The terms and conditions are presented in a way that is easy to understand. I also found the complimentary travel insurance policy to be relatively comprehensive and clearly explained in the printed documentation supplied. Online banking seems to work well too. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this card.
Excellent rewards program, Professional and helpful customer service, Complimentary Travel Insurance, Priority phone line for Gold customers.
Only 45 day interest free period for purchases. You will only see a net gain from the rewards program if you repay the full amount by the due date. Otherwise the interest charges will probably negate the benefits.

"You need to wait 12 months between closing one Westpac Altitude Card and opening another". When I asked the fellow where this is written in the PDS, he couldn't locate it. I have scoured the Westpac PDS and the Altitude T&Cs are there is no reference to this statement. Just another excuse for not sending the points. Am now going to follow up with Point Hacks who endorse & advertised this promotion of 100k points, 2 lounge invitations in Feb 2018. Have met minimum spend requirements on 13 March. Have paid account in full. Old mate, backpacker in the Rewards Centre advised that it is 4 weeks from date of eligibility for the lounge passes to be delivered and 3 months for the points to be credited. "It is not a manual process to allocate the points, it is a computer generated script that looks at 3 requirements:
1. Minimum Spend Requirement satisfied
2. Have you held another Westpac Group Card within the last 12 months (so this is St George too folks) and
3. Are you a Westpac Group staff member? (Obvs if you are, no dice.)

Told old mate, I am happy to close this account and move onto the next. Steep learning curve for the Annual Fee though - $395. Yikes!
May I add that the NAB QF Mcard credited 100,000k points to my QF FF even before I paid the statement and their annual fee was only $295. They also list your NAB customer number on the back of their card which is very handy. No, I don't work for NAB - just a point of difference between the 2 products.

Been with the bank for 25 years. Usually reliable and customer service ok...but this Covid19 situation has shown some true colours.

Called up regarding loan payment that was due, asking for assistance. Filled in the hardship forms etc.
Was told by the staff member that I should only pay "what I can" as there would be no credit defaults in this time and I do have this on recording...though, funnily enough, no record on their end. Anyway, so I paid half, and then I got a default fee which they refuse to refund even after 1 month now and rejected my hardship claim.
No compassion. We are all in the same situation!! I'm not making anything up. So now my plan is to pay off that loan, its top priority. Get rid of it, and tell Westpac to bash it, the loans, the accounts etc, up their....you know what.

On the 4th call to customer service, the woman was that rude that I ended up hanging up on her.

I'm disgusted.

I writing a review for a Glenn I spoke to on the phone 27th June. He was very helpful consulting with me about my policy.
As an elderly lady I was able to understand all the details that were included in my new policy.
For his courtesy and time I will give him an excellent.

I have been with westpac for over 20yrs, am now over their crap!!! Times have changed.
Such a depressing unhelpful uncaring inconsiderate bank to be with. No help and to be told part of their customer service team works from another country and have to call back because of the time difference!!! I need help, and need it now!!!!

3 months after claim numerous phone calls to Westpac they finally found an excuse not to pay after 3 building inspections!!!! I am long term customer of Westpac with numerous loans and savings but this did not help in any way, No feedback had to call to find any information on claim and was told on 8/07/15 that I would receive official letter and all reports from inspections still no letter 28/07/15, oh well at least I know that Westpac service is the worst I have experienced. Will be looking for a new Finance Co. and Insurance Co.

it is a wast of money, wepac refused to pay when tenant left a letter at the property and broke a 12 months lease only 3 months into the lease. wespac considered it enough notice given and refused to pay operator was very very rude. real estate thought it was ridiculous and moving on to terri scheer now, cancelling all my policies with them 5 in total.

This is the worst insurance policy, someone breaks into a house and the family is overseas and all of the items get stolen like t.v,speakers,ps4,watches,phones and ipads, with having this insurance the family thought they can get the money worth the items which was close to $8000, however they declined it because the insurance was taken one week before the break in happened, now how does this make sense, this is a ridiculous company, i hope it gets bankruptcy.

I had westpac insurance for years, home and content as well as landlord. Nevee had to put a claim until 2020 when our tenant left with unpaid rent, bills and a big damage reported by police. We documented everything perfectly and the claim got rejected due to years ago they calculated there was a late rent payment when we didn't even have insurance, plus it is not even real, we never had rental arrears.
Now taking them to ACCC...we will make an example of BAD insurance companies who do everything to not pay a claim...

I got this card in November last year when they were running a promotion that you will receive 120k Qantas points when you send $4k within first months of approval. This card also comes with 2 Qantas lounges and also give you access to free Priority Pass Membership. This card has been very useful so far.

Got it last year in August and have loved using this card. For most purchases I have received double points or 1.5 times the points. The lounge offer at Sydney Airport is great ! Only negative is that they charge a foreign transaction fee - which I hate as I do shop overseas.

Got this card due to its cashback promotion ($200 back after $600) spent. Other than the cashback, it's a typical low rate card with not much benefit. No problems so far.
