ChessBaron is a barony without a castle, let alone nobility.
Having bought two chess sets with ChessBaron, my loyalty has been slashed with irony and disdain once I decided to return a flawed and faulty set. It was agreed in writing that my purchase would be refunded upon return.
For the return, ChessBaron chose their own courier, which unfortunately broke the board during transit. Instead of dealing with their courier, ChessBaron assumed that I was to take the loss.
So be aware: instead of a knight in shining armour riding a noble steed, ChessBaron is riding a ragged mule loaded with cupidity and disdain.
As a loyal customer, here is my advice: don't be pawned by ChessBaron, the game is wicked.

Chess Baron has a wide selection of chess boards and pieces from the art/luxury end to travel sets. The company seems to be in several countries and they are easy to deal with but they do import items that are not quality assured and you may pay over the odds for an inferior set. A lot of sympathetic back and forth but I still ended up with something that didn't match the picture and I didn't really want.

Recently purchased a 'Sebastian' metal chess set (and accompanying board and case) from Chess Baron. It's a very nice set but I don't use it as it is extremely difficult to tell the queen and bishops apart - I have reverted to using an old Staunton style chess set. Sympathetic emails from Chess Baron but they are unable to do anything because of the design copyright of the set. This is all well and good but I am left with an expensive set that I struggle touse - be aware of this problem if you are looking at the 'Sebastian' set.

I got my chess pieces look good but the kings weight were off by over 25% especially the white (advertised as 70 grams but actual weight is only 52. I called Chess Baron but told it was just normal. I was disappointed and felt ripped off. If this was properly advertised noting this big variance (over quarter of the weight in my case), I would have chosen the cheaper set of the same size. Who knows, they may have also sent the wrong weight/product for what I paid for, but they don't care, I was asked to return the product instead... easiest way to get away from mistakes or shady advertisement.

AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!!! What a nightmare!!! I dealt with "the baron" himself at chessBaron and what a joke. As you can see by my photo's, I recieved a marble chess set in shocking condition for £169!!! Pieces dusty and glued to the fabric (i could not get off) plus they felt very light, a manky case with crumbling old cardboard underneath, all the fabric surrounding the pieces is unstitched/ripped. The marble board was filthy with a grainy rough feel on top and marks seeped into the marble. Clearly no spot-checking, care or thought for the presentation/products sent out. What was even more hilarious was the guarantee's and information that had been printed off, about the quality and excellence of the set which wasn't worth the paper it was written on I had the set for all of an hour and then sent it back but his customer service is shocking and his attitude even worse, the way he "talks down to you", I just ignored, but having the ordacity to tell me that there is NOTHING WRONG with the chess set I recieved that it's ready for the next customer.. (I feel sorry for whoever that is!) And that there was a "Level of magnifying and unrealistic examination" - on my part!! What?? Like my eyes can't see mate! He's deluded and for someone with over "20years in e-commerce" HE SHOULD KNOW BETTER!!! Continue the nightmare I had to pay for sending it back, this was NOT mentioned anywhere. He said It would be cheap and I would be refunded... more lies. £16.33 which I never got back. Once he had the item, he said I would be refunded in a few days, fast forward a week - nothing, so I chased him with ONE email. Fast forward another week, NOTHING. So I informed him I had started a "Disputes Refund" with the bank of my card... Funnily enough after waiting 14 days for a refund, it appeared in my account that very same day! I have seen another review for this so called "company" 2years ago (scroll down!) by someone called William... I should of listened to that one, clearly things haven't changed. No doubt baron will reply to this review as he did to William's in the same sarcastic rude above himself manner! Well you have all been warned! I will NEVER use ChessBaron again. If you don't want a crappy shoddy product may I suggest 'The Regency Chess Company' - now that's a 5 star company with a 5 star product.

From our experience this can indicate that the business is either not actively engaged with online communication or is new and growing. We have discovered that this business has SSL (secure sockets layer), which means that this business handles your data, such as personal information or credit card details, with secure connection. We found that the domain for this business is older than two years which could be an indication that this is a trustworthy business with an established customer base and experience in their field.
