I would give them a 0 if I could. I bought the card because the packaging says you can make international transactions for a small fee. After receiving my permanent card I tried to make an international payment and it was denied. They told me they don't allow that regardless of what the package says. It also states that the monthly fee will not be taken out until after the first use. However they took mine out immediately even though I had never used the card. I told them that the packaging is false advertisement and grounds for a law suit. I demanded the fee they took out be put back in. It took a lot of arguing and threatening to sue before they agreed to wave the monthly fee. I will still have to pay the ATM fee to get my money out though. Please do not use this company for anything. You can't even call them. If you try it says "our customer service is unavailable" no matter when you call. I had to use the chat service but even that is difficult. They end the chat before ever answering you 90% of the time!

I purchase a prepaid card from Green Dot. I have been trying to activate it for over a month period, I completed all personal information required 3 times, at the end the system tell me to try later. I finally did it and my card is still not activate it, now I have to wait for a card being mailed from Green Dot. I don't need a credit card, I just need to be able to use the prepaid I purchase. This is a scam. Do not buy it.

I've had greendot for well over a year now and I love it. I get my direct deposits next day, sometimes same day. Low to no fees. They have a convenient easy to use app that sends the notifications I need. The couple of times I did contact customer service, the replied promptly and with detailed help. If you're looking for a great online bank, I highly recommend greendot.

I had a problem because a child putting the wrong information on the internet for the card when I try to get my money back I was ran around in every direction you can imagine I finally got $35 back out of 50 which they were stating that it was used but how could it have been used when it wasn't available RIP OFF do not use this bank at all

Overall Green Dot is great, as for Direct Deposit, making purchases so on. However, it says that Mobile Check Deposit will take between 1 - 5 days. If you are given the opportunity to do Mobile Check Deposit, but need your money within a day or two do not do it. It will take the entire 5 days. My check was from my employer who does my direct deposit and it was for $150 so not a huge amount. This should have been available within a day or two. I am a single mother and needed these funds within a timely manner to get my kids school supplies and food. I guess my expectations should not have been a day or two since it does say 1 - 5 days, but I really did not think it would really take that long. By the time the check is deposited my direct deposit will hit and I won't need the check.

Due to recent financial issues, I would like to cancel or temporarily cancel my account with Greendot. I have called, gone on my account, and tried to email. To no avail. When emailing, it says that I have an incorrect email address which is untrue. Please advise how I can cancel the account. This is very frustrating and if I cannot get an answer or acquire what I need, I will NOT use Greendot again. Very sad since we have so much to worry about during this Covid-19 situation. I pray that everyone stays safe.

Green Card is posing as a gift card and being sold alongside the gift cards. However, unlike a gift card they will begin charging monthly fees and take all the money unless you go online and give them your cell phone and social security number, and email. Sounds like dark web to me.

Ok I buy this visa green dot after reading 7,95 monthly fee ok no problem I'll be using this card after my order for my new job activate it bam they took the 7,95 befor my online card shows up and cant place my order now and it was time sensitive never again will I use this company's card

Don't use this card unless you can afford to loose the money you put on it. Someone stole my credit card information somehow and made 3 purchases in a 2 day period at the same Popeyes restaurant for a total of $139.55. I found out about the charges only 4 days later and immediately called Greendot. I was already very agitated that it even happened and then on top of that I had to talk to someone who I could not even understand. The only thing that I got out of the conversation was that I had to mail a letter listing the dates and charges that I was disputing. So I did, I explained that my card never leaves my home, I use it for internet purchases only and on a desktop computer with good virus protection. I live in NJ and that the purchases took place in CA. I was on lock down and could not have flown out to CA because of covid-19 no fly restrictions and have never been to CA. in my life. This was their response: "Thank you for contacting us about the dispute for $139.55 on your Green Dot. We have concluded our investigation of your dispute referenced above. Based on our review, we are unable to grant your claim because based on our review of relevant information, including transaction and account activity, no error was found. If you would like to request and receive a copy of supporting documentation used in the determination, please send a written request including your full name and the Case Number included at the top of this letter to: XXXXXXXX." No error was found, really, they're calling it an error. This was credit card fraud, a crime was committed and it should have been investigated as such. (Who spends $139.55 at the same fast food restaurant in a two day period) I sent both an email and a mailed letter requesting the supporting documentation used in making the determination. They never responded. Below you might see a Greendot response to this review saying something like: "It truly saddens us to hear you're unhappy with the service you were provide. Please allow us the opportunity to make things right. Please give us a call through the number on the back of your card, so we can review your account with you." I've already called, but can no longer speak to anyone. The automated system says that a decision has already been made, there is nothing further that customer support can do, goodbye. This is not a real credit card company, you have no rights, don't throw away your money.

Literally their website and app might give you cancer. It seems almost intentionally awful to make sure you cannot ever find a way to close an account or contact anyone to close the account for you. They literally advise you to spend to $0.00 to close the account OR call them. Emailing often glitches out and they never answer your calls. Just don't use their service.

do NOT get a prepaid card from them..they keep charging you a monthly fee long after you are closing the account..on the phone they lie to you about waiving the fee and closing the acct,but the following month all feed add up again..it's like a nightmare,it keeps coming back to haunt you!!worst of it,the have your SSN..also when you activate the card,they are opening a checking acct on your name too,without you asking for it,or even activate it!!beware people,find someone else!!

GreenDot frozen my account because my father passed away. So they said I can't have the $672.97 I had in my greendot account. But the real kicker here is, they KEPT OPEN my father's greendot account. They are thieves. I have filed several complaints with several agencies. If I call greendot now as soon as I enter my information they hang up on me

Worst company ever , My husband is a truck j driver and his account was charged 4 times for a donation. when he asked them to put the money back on because it was a discrepancy ..They blocked his card NOW he has no money and cant use his card, unable to come home because of Covid19 ..now we have no idea where his pay check is going , we cant get anyone on the phone . Horrible Service SCAMMERS !!!

This is my last ever attempt at prepaid cards. There's no way to speak to customer support about issues. The monthly fee of $9 was not expected as I read there were none. I also cannot access my account using the app. I know I am entering the information correctly, and password reset isnt even going to my email. I will just not bother activating the registsred card they sent in the mail. I doubt there would be cashback credit given for my purchases--i would rather keep using my bank account and PayPal. Thanks for wasting my money and time greendot.

I have never seen a company that is this big of a scammer. They advertise their cards like they are a gift card. My kids received 2 $50 cards for Christmas and I registered them immediately. I first found it weird they wanted my social security number, but I put it in as they would not let me continue until I did. My kids finally went to use their cards and no money left on them. The company charges $7.95 a month and for what??? They stole $100 from an 8 and 10 year old. This is the worse company around and I don't know how they are still in business with a 1 star rating

I have attempted to resolve and issue with Green Dot since 3/30/20.As of 5/12/20, I have received one email response from the company on 4/10/20 assigning a case number to this issue. There is no way to reach a live agent; automated phone system allows NO access. This company definitely has THE WORST customer service of any company I have ever dealt with. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is an inside job. The "specialists" and "agents" are crooks, they are going in peoples accounts, over charging, taking money out and freezing peoples accounts. When you try to contact them and let them know you know what is going on, they either (1) disconnect from you or (2) try to create "static" (fuzzy noises) to pretend like they can't hear you. They need to be investigated and thrown in jail!

This is a total scam company. I had a measly $25 gift card that someone gave me. I never used it because they make you jump through hoops to even do so by creating an online account and all this other crap. Then found out today it had a -$15.90 balance from fees! So they charged $40.90 in fees on the card while it sat unused for a couple of years! NEVER NEVER NEVER USE THESE PEOPLE FOR ANYTHING! CON ARTISTS!!!

I've been doing business with Green Dot 4 years now all of a sudden my contact information not good enough I bought a card to pay a bill online now I can't pay the bill online because you can't verify my contact information the same contact information I've been using for years the last two times I purchase the card I had issues with GreenDot Never no more anyone that I know. I want to tell him don't touch the card because they changed and used to be good but not at no good now my bills is screwed up

Cannot speak to human at the phone number they give. If you go to site, chat is always down. If you try to use their email option, every time you click send, it says there's an error and go log in again and start over. They're worse than the government! Purchased the card to pay for online payments for facebook promos without using my credit card. Facebook says the card is not legitimate. Can't return card. Can't use card. Can't contact issuer. Someone should be going to prison.
