Chimney Fire 21st July 2018 - I am writing because it is now over 13months later, and our family are still not back in our home. JLIB Obviously should have rebuilt the chimney first, instead of 13 months later,
not happy, Possums dead/alive are running amock INSIDE our house.

After water Damage our insurance CBS pass on claim to JLB who assess the damage then it was tendered
out to jbcs constructionservices who did the job which we are very please with and had a quote for our bathroom which from them and the renovation is now in progress .
John Lyng Builder are to be thanked for picking jbcs and thanks from my wife & I

Insurance company use Johns Ling for repairs but it's been over 12 months and the work is still a long way from being completed on a family home. Johns Ling don't even bother turning up, have to do rework as they don't follow the schedule of their own report and don't seem to care they've kept a family from returning to their home for over 12 months now. Check your insurance company doesn't use Johns Ling and if they do have nothing to do with them, you have been warned!

Our experience with Darryl and his team of tradesmen that worked on repairing our home was absolutely sensational. They were polite, punctual, very informative and helpful and they did the most amazing job which looks fantastic and we could not be happier. Thanks guys for all your hard work and how you all cared about our situation with Madison (who has Autism), we are truly very grateful for everything.

16/3/20 I was not home (in Melbourne for funeral) who did he talk to? I am sorry I was not home. maintenance/defect issues. Debris under poly carbonate roof sheeting trapped blocking the debris? Causing overflow under eaves with water markers in laundry! The tradies said they would clean the debris! Thank you so much I hope you will listen to an old girl. It’s not your fault.

the project manager was excellent in his approach however there are some points to note which spoilt what would have been a "well done" project. the existing light switches and GPO's were replaced with white. I suggested it would have been a very easy job to flick the cover plates off and paint them to match the existing switches and GPO's. the painters left a filthy kitchen sink where they cleaned their equipment. a spill on the concrete outside was just let. took me 2 hours to clean that up.

Unfriendly contractor and I was the one who had to keep track of what is going on. Lack of explanation for the whole procedure and quotation is just ripped off.

Recommended by our insurer following massive storm, wind and hail. First up & within 24 hours of contacting JL Group their make-safe team secured our damaged skylights from any further rain entering our upstairs carpeted area. An assessment followed with indicative quote for replacement skylight which included scaffolding on inside due to 7 metre roof height. All work completed satisfactorily to a high standard. Very happy with outcome.

Due to major storm damage in February this year John Lyng was coordinated by Hollard insurance. The restorix group appointed was very prompt and professional however the builder named renovex was appalling very unprofessional and really poor workmanship. I was unable to leave a review on the renovex company as they appear to be a sole trader working exclusively for John Lyng group for insurance repairs. You do not have a choice on the Builder that is appointed for the repairs.

Johns Ling were assigned to my wife and I to assess the damage to our home during the recent floods in Townsville. Their Project Manager visited us 4 days after the flood to assess the damage and write a report for our insurers Suncorp and advised us that normal time for the work will be 6 - 10 weeks at the earliest However they considered us as special need and they had the builder to check for water damage that was done and returned again and in 2 weeks and repaired the damage and had where need be had plasterers and painters. The management of our project was completed and we were able to use our home again. Johns Ling deserve to be congratulated for their having been totally professional management of our project

There was a fire at our place late in August. The insurance company made an assessment which did not cover all of the damage. They did a reassessment and added a lot of items. For some reason when the first site manager for Johns Lyng turned up he had the original assessment. He had based all his work on this but we informed him he had the wrong document. That was the last we saw of him.

A few weeks later there was a new site manager. He promised us the world and said he was going to get things done. A few weeks passed and nothing was done. He resigned from the company.

We are currently on our third site manager. Things started happening... very slowly. One day’s work would be done and then no one would come to the house for two or three weeks. The only way to get things done is to contact the manager but he obviously does not like this and acts as if we are inconveniencing him. When work is done we are obviously getting sub contractors who are getting their apprentices to do the work. Some of the work done has been sloppy and then a more senior tradie has had to come out to fix things up.

It’s almost 7 months since the fire. Johns Lyng have had the contract for six months. They have spent maybe two or three weeks actually working at the house. Things are dragging on. Our family are wondering whether this is ever going to finish and whether we are ever going to actually get back into our house.

Once we got the painters onsite, the work only took 1/2 day to complete.
John's Lyng rep was very efficient in organising the tradies but not in returning email. Overall happy with job.

An early morning disaster of a blown washing machine hose. Full flood. Prompt support and clean up, repair and replacement returned our home to a liveable environment. Thanks to Johns Lyng and RestorX.

Overall our experiance was great, however after the first day of the actual roof replacement, we could hear something scratching. We told the roofers that we think something is trapped inside and asked if they could look. Today the 11th of January we are experiencing a foul odour comming from the roof.

I have damage from recent Hail Storm. My insurer uses Johns Lyng Group for the repairs. The whole process has been extremely confusing and didn't get very clear communication causing multiple follow ups. They have a 'make safe' area and another area who does the actual fixes and these two areas do not seem to communicate and co-ordinate very well. It seemed like they expect me to co-ordinate things between the team areas of their own business. I have multiple tradies (5 to 6) coming over to do the same measurements and photographs. I have wasted so much time with follow-up over the phone and with various people coming, as the 'make safe' not completed fully each time due to improper tools or experience. Johns Lyng want new 'make safe' each time and have asked I call my insurance company to authorise (who have a wait time of over an hour each time I call due to all of the events happening around Australia right now).

I may update this review to be more positive once things start being completed (and 'make safe' fully completed correctly), but for now I feel exhausted and frustrated by all of this.

Timely, efficient and communicative are the three words that come to mind with this insurance builder. Being communicative a t all levels was paramount for us as landlords, which also put us in very good stead with our long term tenant.

Professionalism at all times when dealing with Johns Lyng admin and supervisor. Being able to obtain prompt answers to querries was crucial for us landlords. Timely and satisfactory end result of contracted work does counts when you hold an investment property in a different state where you live. The recent demolition job completed in Rockhampton and obtaining "clearance certificate" just before christmas holidays proves the above.

My house was supposed to be settled last Friday and on Wednesday night we had a water damage all over our timber floors and garage. Thursday morning i contacted my insurance company and within 2 hours the electrician was on site followed by the estimator who worked really quick to submit the quote and the insurance company approved it. They also are working really hard to fix all the issues within my 10 day deadline to handover the house ... i had other companies in the past who worked on my.insurance claim ...but i am really amazed by the level of support and empathy offered by the team
