Lumberliquidators.com Reviews & Complaints (31)

We purchased Americas Mission Olive 12mm laminate flooring from Lumber Liquidators in December of 2014 and had it installed throughout our home (except bathrooms) in our new remodel. We chose this floor after speaking with their sales people who convinced us that this is a very durable floor, which would hold up great to pets and kids.

We had the floors installed by a professional and were very happy with the results... for about a month. That was when we started noticing the chips all over the floor and the bubbling along the edges of the the planks. If a drop of liquid came into contact with these floors, even if wiped up immediately, the surface of the product would start to peel away from the backing. And any time anything was dropped on the floor they would chip.

We were extremely disappointed because these floors had been sold to us as being extremely durable and multiple employees at the Albuquerque store told us that they would be great for a family with pets and kids.

We contacted their customer care line, sure that they would make this right since this was obviously a misrepresentation of the product they were selling. We figured that a company this large would have some pride in their products and stand behind what they sold. Unfortunately this has not been the case at all.

After jumping through hoops we were told to send them a box of our unopened flooring. We did this and a few days later we contacted with an Its not our fault letter. They said that they had done internal testing and that based off of the pictures we had sent them and their internal testing it was moisture damage. The funny thing is that we didnt even send pictures of the bubbling from moisture, we had just send pictures of the chipping. This showed us that they hadnt even bothered to review our claims before writing us off!!

After this, we requested to see the report on our floors from their internal tests and were told "there is no report, just a notation made on the file that the issues of concern are not manufacturing related. I don’t know what the inspection process is except for what I have already shared with you as this is done by a separate entity." ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? What reputable, ethical company runs internal testing and doesnt document it?

At this point we were very frustrated with the company because it is obvious that they have been giving us the run around. So after many more emails and calls (most of which were never even acknowledged) we were told they would send out a third party inspector. The inspector finally came and took some pictures and moisture readings and left without giving us any information.

We were contact by Lumber Liquidators a few days later with another not saying it is all moisture related and not their fault. However, their own warranty states that "Your Ispiri floor is warranted against finish wear from normal household conditions resulting in exposure of the paper layer". This is exactly what is happening in our home!

We have since asked multiple times to see a copy of the report by the third party inspector and have been ignored. We have also requested multiple times to speak with a supervisor, only to be ignored each time.

I would never recommend Lumber Liquidators to anyone. In fact, I will be doing just the opposite. For the amount of money we spent it would be nice it they would stand behind their product and make sure their customers were satisfied and that they were selling good quality product, but unfortunately this is not the case at all.

I have been a contractor for about 12 years. Over the years, I have had issues with this company. I would like to detail some of that here.

There was an order of laminate flooring. The floor would not lock. Upon inspection of the floor, I noticed the joints were defective.

I went to LL, with the customer, and told them the issue and showed them. They told me it was a warranty issue and I needed to contact their corporate office. I told them I just wanted to exchange the floor with new product so my customer could have the floor installed on time. They said they could not.

We called the corporate office and, the people we talked to, gave the run around. 2 months later, after the customer hired an attorney, he got a refund. He purchased some product at another place and had me install it. This time the job got done. That family walked on bare concrete for that time.

Then their was a time I was asked to install an engineered floor that was purchased from there. We took it out of the box and there were scratches on the floor. Every scratch was in the same spot, meaning it had been milled improperly at the factory.

I went with this customer to LL and they told us that we needed to call the corporate office. This time the corporate office said the same things again. I told this customer to get an attorney. He did and he was given a full refund.

As you can tell, I deal with high income clients. They could afford attorneys. Ask yourself a simple question: After spending thousands of dollars on a floor, can you afford to pay an attorney to defend you if things go wrong? If the answer to that question is no, then do not use LL. There is no security when you buy from them. Their 100 million year warranties mean nothing.

installed cherry wood floors and withing 3 months every area (under) a rug had faded. I've owned hardwood floors for 30 years and have seen UV light fade (exposed) wood, but never seen wood (under a rug) fade. LL tried to state it was normal fading due to UV light (Hello... it's under the rug. there is no UV light exposure!). Worst customer service I've ever seen. They have no desire to stand behind their product. Get the customers money, then ignore them. I even proved with my spare wood (also not exposed to UV) and it was like the rest of the floor color (expect the faded areas under the rug. How do you explain that if it's UV caused?? Thier crooks pure and simple

On 8/24/19 I placed an online order for over 500 square feet of Engineered Vinyl Plank (EVP) flooring. You CAN NOT receive an online order confirmation number unless you first submit payment for the order. I received online order confirmation #10300363 indicating that $1737.36 had been billed to my wife's VISA account. On 8/28/19, I received a voicemail message from Nick at Lumber Liquidators in Clinton Township, MI indicating there had been some online processing issues but that my order was in stock and now ready for pickup.
On 9/7/19, I made arrangements to borrow my son's pickup truck and offered to pay him $.25/mile as his lease was already over his contracted miles. Upon arriving at an almost empty store and waiting almost 20 minutes for someone to wait on me, I was informed that I still needed to pay for the flooring. Upon showing a printed copy of the original online receipt showing I had submitted payment via credit card, I was informed there had been a computer problem and that Lumber Liquidators had never processed the payment.
IF THIS WAS THE CASE, THEN WHY WAS I INFORMED THAT MY ORDER WAS OK AND READY FOR PICKUP AND WHY DID I RECEIVE AN ORDER CONFIRMATION # STATING THE CHARGES HAD BEEN APPLIED TO MY WIFE'S VISA ACCOUNT?
Since the original order had been processed under my wife's credit card, I was unable to confirm at the store whether or not her account had been charged and couldn't contact her as she was volunteering at a charity golf outing for BIAMI (Brain Injury Association of Michigan).
In summary, I wasted my entire afternoon borrowing a vehicle and incurring time and expense due to the incompetence of Lumber Liquidators.
When my wife returns home this evening, I am going to do my very best to talk her out of the flooring she so very much liked and convince her to purchase flooring from a different company!
NEEDLESS TO SAY, I WILL NOT BE RECOMMENDING LUMBER LIQUIDATORS TO ANYONE I KNOW THAT NEEDS FLOORING!

We installed 720 sf of the Morning Star Click bamboo flooring sold by Lumber Liquidators in June of 2013. The material scratches easy, however, the scratches are the least of our problems. The cupping started with the shorter pieces in the hallways. By December 2013, the entire installation was cupping and gaps appeared in random areas. After contacting Lumber Liquidators about the problem, We were told that since we did not hire someone to test the moisture of the subfloor and the humidity in the house prior to the installation of this material, the warranty was void. In addition, I was told that our method of cleaning resulted in the problems with the floor. It seems that if the cleaner is sprayed directly on the floor, the material absorbs the moisture along the edges and this was another reason for the damage to the bamboo flooring. We purchased a 32 oz. bottle of cleaner after the floor was installed. Most of the time, the cleaning involves sweeping and using a dust mop. About once a month we get on our hands and knees, spray a fine mist of cleaner directly onto the floor and use a cloth towel to clean the floor. Since the installation, we have used the liquid cleaner about five times and still have about half of the cleaner left in the bottle. I guess 16 oz. caused the damage to the entire 720 sf of the floor, including the material under the furniture and area rugs!! Seriously?!?!?!? In reading the various reviews for this product, it seems that there is a chronic problem with scratching, cupping and separations. It seems that Lumber Liquidators will use any excuse to avoid the liability for providing the customer with a very poor product. I understand that a product warranty is only as good as the company that stands behind it. LLI should condense thier warranty to read "Warranty void if material is removed from factory packaging". We will have to replace our six month old floor and it sure as heck will not be with a product supplied by Lumber Liquidators. STAY AWAY!!!!!

I am furious on the delay the material I bought is arriving 1 month later. I called the store that the material will be delivered to and was informed that the product is expected to arrive on 8/23/2015. THAT IS 1 MONTH wait time! I am remodeling my house to move in and this is costing me 1 month of mortgage! If I knew that buying this product will cost me a month of mortgage, I much rather go to the store and pay a premium which would be cheaper than waiting a whole month for the material to arrive. WHAT kind of business does this. I truly regret my first and last experience shopping online at Lumber Liquidators.

I am remodeling my house so I called Lumber Liquidators for some flooring....enough to cover 2500 square feet. I thought I should start with some samples. I called and they said they were on there way, that was over a month ago. Needless to say I still don't have my samples and I am going with a different flooring store.

Exactly one year and 3 months later, our Bamboo flooring has cracked and popped straight up in every room of our house. When we contacted LL, they said it was outside of a year and not their problem. The installation company they used is no longer in business so they said they couldn't contact them for a moisture review. When they did finally send their rep, they determined that our area has too much moisture. Recommended we get encapsulated with a moisture barrier system. We spent over $15,000 on that and contacted LL to let them know that there is no moisture reading in the home and they said, well....too bad...we don't have to replace anything since it is over a year later. Never ever will I buy anything from them again.

Ordered ten boxes/227 sqft of Lumber Liquidators Highest Quality Bellawood 3/4" X 3-1/4"solid Brazilian Teak for a DYI installation in my family room . The boxes were received sealed and totally undamaged but upon opening and once I started installing the flooring I discovered that many planks had been so badly damaged during manufacturing that they could not be used. Unfortunately I was too far into the installation before I started to realized that all of the boxes had quality problems and by then it was too late to return the flooring for a refund. Fortunately I had purchased an extra box and I had to use half of that box to replace the damaged planks.

Astoundingly, some of the most extreme damage had a finish coat that was applied after the damage had occurred during milling and sanding. This is really poor quality control and really makes it doubtful that Bellawood uses "Hand-selected planks" as LL states in it's catalog.
In addition to smashed and edge damaged planks, some plank ends were horridly out of square and would gap when butted to the next board. One plank end was milled so badly it literally looked like ripple potato chip! Thickness variations between some boards are so extreme as to create a trip hazard in spots. Also, the width of a few boards varied as much as a 1/16" which showed up as large gaps after installation.

On the plus-side, I contacted both the LL Store and Customer Service and while both were helpful there really wasn't much that could be done as the floor was installed and I had enough good pieces from the extra box I purchased to finish the job. I installed the floor myself using the Norge 18 gauge air nailer that I purchased from LL and it worked very well. I also appreciated the detailed Bellawood installation instructions that I was able to downloaded from LL website.

I still have six more rooms and about 1200 sqft of hardwood flooring that I need to install but because of this experience I won't be purchasing any more flooring from Lumber Liquidators. There is absolutely no excuse for the damage that happen during manufacturing, the lack of inspection and overall poor mill quality of the flooring. I only hope that there won't be future problem with this floor now that it's installed.

We paid over $4000 total with labor to get flooring from Lumber Liquidators. It was supposed to have a thirty year warranty (yeah right).

A year later the floor is garbage. It is full of chips and dents and they won't honor one dime of warranty. We were told in the store about "how high quality this floor is" and "how they use it in there entryways." They lied. We got sold junk.

Lumber liquidators is a scam and a lie. There warranties are not worth the paper they are written on. We went through their entire warranty process and they told us to stick it.

They suck, they suck, they suck.Next time, I'll go to Lowes.
