There was an order of laminate flooring. The floor would not lock. Upon inspection of the floor, I noticed the joints were defective.
I went to LL, with the customer, and told them the issue and showed them. They told me it was a warranty issue and I needed to contact their corporate office. I told them I just wanted to exchange the floor with new product so my customer could have the floor installed on time. They said they could not.
We called the corporate office and, the people we talked to, gave the run around. 2 months later, after the customer hired an attorney, he got a refund. He purchased some product at another place and had me install it. This time the job got done. That family walked on bare concrete for that time.
Then their was a time I was asked to install an engineered floor that was purchased from there. We took it out of the box and there were scratches on the floor. Every scratch was in the same spot, meaning it had been milled improperly at the factory.
I went with this customer to LL and they told us that we needed to call the corporate office. This time the corporate office said the same things again. I told this customer to get an attorney. He did and he was given a full refund.
As you can tell, I deal with high income clients. They could afford attorneys. Ask yourself a simple question: After spending thousands of dollars on a floor, can you afford to pay an attorney to defend you if things go wrong? If the answer to that question is no, then do not use LL. There is no security when you buy from them. Their 100 million year warranties mean nothing.
On 9/7/19, I made arrangements to borrow my son's pickup truck and offered to pay him $.25/mile as his lease was already over his contracted miles. Upon arriving at an almost empty store and waiting almost 20 minutes for someone to wait on me, I was informed that I still needed to pay for the flooring. Upon showing a printed copy of the original online receipt showing I had submitted payment via credit card, I was informed there had been a computer problem and that Lumber Liquidators had never processed the payment.
IF THIS WAS THE CASE, THEN WHY WAS I INFORMED THAT MY ORDER WAS OK AND READY FOR PICKUP AND WHY DID I RECEIVE AN ORDER CONFIRMATION # STATING THE CHARGES HAD BEEN APPLIED TO MY WIFE'S VISA ACCOUNT?
Since the original order had been processed under my wife's credit card, I was unable to confirm at the store whether or not her account had been charged and couldn't contact her as she was volunteering at a charity golf outing for BIAMI (Brain Injury Association of Michigan).
In summary, I wasted my entire afternoon borrowing a vehicle and incurring time and expense due to the incompetence of Lumber Liquidators.
When my wife returns home this evening, I am going to do my very best to talk her out of the flooring she so very much liked and convince her to purchase flooring from a different company!
NEEDLESS TO SAY, I WILL NOT BE RECOMMENDING LUMBER LIQUIDATORS TO ANYONE I KNOW THAT NEEDS FLOORING!
Astoundingly, some of the most extreme damage had a finish coat that was applied after the damage had occurred during milling and sanding. This is really poor quality control and really makes it doubtful that Bellawood uses "Hand-selected planks" as LL states in it's catalog.
In addition to smashed and edge damaged planks, some plank ends were horridly out of square and would gap when butted to the next board. One plank end was milled so badly it literally looked like ripple potato chip! Thickness variations between some boards are so extreme as to create a trip hazard in spots. Also, the width of a few boards varied as much as a 1/16" which showed up as large gaps after installation.
On the plus-side, I contacted both the LL Store and Customer Service and while both were helpful there really wasn't much that could be done as the floor was installed and I had enough good pieces from the extra box I purchased to finish the job. I installed the floor myself using the Norge 18 gauge air nailer that I purchased from LL and it worked very well. I also appreciated the detailed Bellawood installation instructions that I was able to downloaded from LL website.
I still have six more rooms and about 1200 sqft of hardwood flooring that I need to install but because of this experience I won't be purchasing any more flooring from Lumber Liquidators. There is absolutely no excuse for the damage that happen during manufacturing, the lack of inspection and overall poor mill quality of the flooring. I only hope that there won't be future problem with this floor now that it's installed.
A year later the floor is garbage. It is full of chips and dents and they won't honor one dime of warranty. We were told in the store about "how high quality this floor is" and "how they use it in there entryways." They lied. We got sold junk.
Lumber liquidators is a scam and a lie. There warranties are not worth the paper they are written on. We went through their entire warranty process and they told us to stick it.
They suck, they suck, they suck.Next time, I'll go to Lowes.

We had the floors installed by a professional and were very happy with the results... for about a month. That was when we started noticing the chips all over the floor and the bubbling along the edges of the the planks. If a drop of liquid came into contact with these floors, even if wiped up immediately, the surface of the product would start to peel away from the backing. And any time anything was dropped on the floor they would chip.
We were extremely disappointed because these floors had been sold to us as being extremely durable and multiple employees at the Albuquerque store told us that they would be great for a family with pets and kids.
We contacted their customer care line, sure that they would make this right since this was obviously a misrepresentation of the product they were selling. We figured that a company this large would have some pride in their products and stand behind what they sold. Unfortunately this has not been the case at all.
After jumping through hoops we were told to send them a box of our unopened flooring. We did this and a few days later we contacted with an Its not our fault letter. They said that they had done internal testing and that based off of the pictures we had sent them and their internal testing it was moisture damage. The funny thing is that we didnt even send pictures of the bubbling from moisture, we had just send pictures of the chipping. This showed us that they hadnt even bothered to review our claims before writing us off!!
After this, we requested to see the report on our floors from their internal tests and were told "there is no report, just a notation made on the file that the issues of concern are not manufacturing related. I don’t know what the inspection process is except for what I have already shared with you as this is done by a separate entity." ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? What reputable, ethical company runs internal testing and doesnt document it?
At this point we were very frustrated with the company because it is obvious that they have been giving us the run around. So after many more emails and calls (most of which were never even acknowledged) we were told they would send out a third party inspector. The inspector finally came and took some pictures and moisture readings and left without giving us any information.
We were contact by Lumber Liquidators a few days later with another not saying it is all moisture related and not their fault. However, their own warranty states that "Your Ispiri floor is warranted against finish wear from normal household conditions resulting in exposure of the paper layer". This is exactly what is happening in our home!
We have since asked multiple times to see a copy of the report by the third party inspector and have been ignored. We have also requested multiple times to speak with a supervisor, only to be ignored each time.
I would never recommend Lumber Liquidators to anyone. In fact, I will be doing just the opposite. For the amount of money we spent it would be nice it they would stand behind their product and make sure their customers were satisfied and that they were selling good quality product, but unfortunately this is not the case at all.
