Frustrated...had my mechanic put a new motor in my boat, had to wait for it for 3 weeks...got it back went out for break in, followed manual protocol and thats very boring riding....45 min into break motor blew....now need to pay mechanic again and shipping fees...they were not very accommodating when their bad motor will cost me a ton more money and wasted time. I see others had a good experience, mine hasnt been good. My mechanic said hes bought over a 100 motors from them and only 2 went bad. You would think they would work with a shop better than they did. If you can find another option you might want to explore it. Sucks to buy a brand new motor and have to pay a ton more when the motor is bad.

SBT sent a used motor that had rust and corrosion which was hidden under the new paint job on the motor they sent us. They also claimed they tested the motor for 20 min which was never done. We only had 2 hours of run time in a matter of 2 weeks and the motor had a major defect and blew. We had to pay to ship motor back and all seals must be in tack or warranty would be voided. They called us to say we had rust and corrosion. Almost like a heart having clogged vessels. How is that possible when you only have the motor for 2 months and non of our parts have corrosion. It take years before this happens. SBT will not reimburse us for labor to pull old motor and install new motor and shipping. After doing some research it looks like a lot of people are having the same issues. Buyer beware. SBT doesn't want to take responsibility for sending a defective motor but instead want to point the finger at the consumer. The pictures attached are the ones they sent. There is no way to have that much corrosion on a motor with 2 hrs. We never made it to the break in period. The no hassle warranty is a joke. Pay a little more and get your motor else where.

Purchased an engine for a VX Deluxe in fall 2018, I had a certified Yamaha tech install the engine, highly regarded mechanic in my area. It was too cold to ride by the time he installed it, too me anyway so we tested in spring 2019. The engine from day one leaked oil and burned oil for two months, 1/2 qt every hour of riding. They did make suggestions as try this and try that such as Yamaha Ring Free but NOTHING worked. They WERE friendly and seemed sincere in trying to help me at first, I didn't want to have to return the engine and have that labor cost and hassle anymore than they wanted it back. Things got worse and finally the engine failed. They brought it in and tested and by phone, an SBT guy agreed with my mechanics thoughts and sent a replacement, he was also very nice and some lady called and apologized, this was fall 2019. At that point I was frustrated but thought things happen to machines and they replaced the engine so all was good. Again too cold to ride in winter when I got it back so we held off until May 2020. I took this out to break in per their instructions, after two 30 minute rides ( cooling 30 minutes between ) the oil light came on and it was smoking and had milky oil on the dipstick once we got it on the trailer. After contacting SBT they said now, nothing they can do my warranty was up AND that they went on to say SBT replaced the original engine even though it wasn't faulty!! BS , if it wasn't faulty they would have NOT replaced it no charge nor would the guy said your mechanic was right......and why'd the lady call me ? Here was my mistake, I was VERBALLY told my replacement would have the same warranty as my original, one year....didn't get it in writing though . Now they say my warranty has long expired and they will not do anything else. I have as much in this Waverunner with it's cost, new engine cost and shipping and LOTS of labor cost as I could have bought a new machine in 2018. I'm sure many people get a good engine from SBT and I hope you do but I have a ton of money shelled out and a Waverunner I can't use or sell. Live and learn!

I priced an engine out through my automotive shop for a customers 03 yamaha 1200xlt over the phone. I called back to order the engine and the pricing was higher after I've already sold it to my customer. After being on hold multiple times and anywhere from 20-30 each phone call they said they would change the price back to dealer since it was there fault, even though I never said I was a dealer and they can not give out dealer prices over the phone. Makes no sense. Then I sent my core back in and they wanted to charge $800 for a half of the crank case that was cracked, half the price of a new engine for a crank case seem like a rip off. So after a very quick search I found that you can buy used cases for $70-$90 and new complete cases for $180. I will never buy from them and there customer service and knowledge are very poor.

bought the tool and waited 3 days, when I finally used it, the threads came out 3 times, I cut the tools in an attempt to use it again. I finally removed the magneto, bought a $15 harbor freight puller, applied some heat and it popped off. Dont waste your time or money with this tool

I purchased a 2001 Yamaha XLT1200 with a bad connecting rod. The cost of a re-built engine was better then changing a crank and piston and cylinder, gaskets, etc...their Service personnel was so helpful made the process very simple.Top it off received my engine in 3 days.... placed old engine and shipped back by the end of the week. Riding and enjoying my new engine in a great Yamaha Waverunner. Thanks to SBT
