At 11am, there was still no truck. I called back to be assured that they would arrive around 11.30am - 12pm. In the meantime I received a text from CBD movers to advise that delays were being experienced and that I was expected to be cooperative whilst I waitied.
12pm, still nothing. I called back for an update and was assured again that the truck was coming and just finishing up a job in a neighbouring suburb - 5km away. I was guranteed at this point that they would be no longer than 35 - 45 minutes.
1pm. STILL nothing. I called back and was told that the closest truck was 2 HOURS away. 2 HOURS!
In my dissapointment, I called another removalist company to try for a same day move as I just knew that there was something fishy going on. I picked up the phone and called another moving company and would you beleive it, but the same lady taking my calls all moring answered the phone.
Im not sure what sort of scam these guys are running but avoid at all costs. I ended up hiring a trailer and moving myself.
Moving is stressful enough, you dont need or want 365 involved in your day. I had a small move, only 1km away but it was one of the most stressful days ive had.

I booked them the day before and I was told the price of 85ph for 2 professional removals and a truck. I was assured that the truck was clean and equipped with all the blankets and protections for the furnitures. In addition, the charge would have started when they start loading the truck. Also I had to pay 25aud in advance as deposit via phone (no problem with that, I said, I need the job done on time and very well).
The morning after 2 young Indian students arrived, they started working with the company a couple of months before (they said).
They already arrived tired and without any motivation. It took for me 5 minutes to brief them about what I needed to move and give them any precautionary advice about building rules (especially about the common areas in the building) and what they were going to carry.
I want to specify that I helped them loading the truck all the time and I had to do 50% of the job by myself.
At the beginning, they spent 20 minutes just to park properly the truck in front of the building, I couldn't believe it!
After the first trip on the lift, I didn't see them back for 45 minutes. I had to go downstairs and check what was going on. I saw them arguing with the caretaker even though they were breaking the building rules blocking the main entrance with the furnitures.
Anyway, next I decided to go downstairs with them for the second trip and be sure no further issues were given to the neighbours. This time I had to assist at something really unprofessional: the two guys where arguing all the time about how to store the furnitures on the van with no any reason. It too 20 extra minutes for them because they wanted to unload part of the furnitures and load them again.
They had been extremely ineffective and not organised.
On the other hand, they spent the all day arguing and moving the stuff extremely slowly.
I had to remind them what to do all the time. I couldn't leave them alone, otherwise they didn't do their job.
Also, I had few boxes in the car park and told them to load those boxes before we left. Before we left I asked them if all the boxes had been loaded. Their answer was positive. So, I went and checked in the car space and all the boxes were still there. I had to do it by myself to have the job done properly and fast.
The second part of the moving wasn't anything but smooth.
They unloaded the truck very slowly and this time too some issues had been given to the residents.
This is the list of the main damages done on my belongings during the loading and unloading processes:
- The fridge arrived without its feet, it doesn't firmly stands upright anymore (I found them broken in their truck!)
- brand new appliances with scratches (fridge, microwave, laundry machine and dryer)
- One mattress had been damaged (I found a hole on one side of it)
- Mattress bases plenty of stains and dust (I had to wash all the covers)
- the sofa was dirty and plenty of exterior scratches
- many glasses and some broken
- damages on the TV
When the truck was empty they told me that the final charge was of 5 hours (instead of the 4.5 hours as it really was) because the time started when they arrived downstairs in front of the building, also they rounded 15 minutes more extra.
I had only cash but they didn't have any change. So, I called the company and they told me to pay more and that they would have refund the change (75$) on the card I used to pay the deposit. Otherwise they couldn't release the 25 aud deposit if I didn't pay the 25 aud odd. (so, why should I give 25$ to get back 25 aud? doesn't it sound strange?)
There was something suspicious in what they were saying (the 2 guys and the girl at the phone) and I said that I would have transfer the money on their bank account.
After other 30 minutes at the phone, at the end, the girl rudely said that if I wouldn't pay the odd (25$ in my case), they would have kept my deposit.
None a word had been spent about my invoice or receipt fo what I paid (potentially a tax fraud operation).
What a great way to treat a customer who paid 450$ for a so poor service!

For an example of the slowness, When dismantling my bed, instead of taking apart the essentials to get it out of the apartment, the movers unscrewed every single nut and bolt completely unnecessarily, only creating more easy work for themselves. I asked them whether they made sure they picked up all of the screws before leaving my building, the younger son said yes and when we got to my other apartment they had left one of the essential screws behind and I ended up having to run over myself while they charged me for it. They only ended up moving my bed and couch in the 2 hours and I had to move everything myself afterwards anyway.
Only hire if you want your time wasted. You'll end up paying more than other movers despite cheap hourly rates because they will purposely take 20x longer to do anything.
