Lumberliquidators.com Reviews & Complaints (31)

I ordered 16 mouldings at lakewood ca store for laminate floor. They sent only 2 pcs in a week. So I called the store. They told me it was a mistake. Ater 2 weeks they sent me 7pcs more. But the other 7 pcs are still missing. Fedex tracking showed only the label was printed. Nobody follows up. I called the store again and again. Later I returned 3 of them because they were not match to my floor. They received returns but said the corp. check will be mailed in 3=4 weeks.
Never heard or experienced that slow services.

I ordered a couple wood transition bars from Lumber Liquidators on May 11th. They assured me they would call when the order arrived at my local store. It is now September 1st and they still have no resolved their error.

The order was delivered, but they never told me. Their website claimed the order was still pending-- after a FULL MONTH.

That added several months to my home remodel. Then when I finally stopped into the store, they realized they screwed up the order. They said they would fix it and the correct item would arrive in a week. Three weeks later, they finally admitted they shipped the order to the wrong store. A week after that, I finally received the transition bar.

When I contacted customer service, they told me they would resolve it. I spoke to "Lucas." I have tried calling Lucas several times, leaving voicemails, with no response.

Working with them for a simple item was a nightmare.

I ordered with Lumber Liquidators 12/17/2014..it is now 1/28/15 and the flooring has not arrived. I have called 3 times and was told 3 different dates, one was today so I called back and they said 2/1/15 but that is only an estimate. This place is a joke. The flooring we ordered was at such a great price Im having anxiety about the quality of the product with all we have been through so far. Not worth the hassle and WAIT. Go somewhere else!!!!

On September 27, 14 I purchased 560 sf of 3/8" x 3-3/4" Carbonized Bamboo. They said they were not sure when we would receive it, but probably no more than a couple weeks.
Let me first say the sales people are very knowledgeable of their products. The sales person that helped us was reasonable friendly, but the other 2 were close to rude.
About 2 weeks after the purchase I called to find out the ETA of our flooring. I was told they would call me back to let me know. They did NOT. A week later I asked the same question. They said I should receive the order at my house the following week, but would have to verify and let me know that day. They did NOT. A few days later I called to ask the same question. They said I would receive the order by December 1, 14, but would have to verify. They did NOT call me back.
I went to the store today (10-26-14) to cancel the order. I told them I know products can be on backorder but they should have called me to let me know. They did not seem to care. They also told me while I was canceling that they cannot get the product I ordered. I asked why they did not tell me that previously. They did not answer. I asked again and they blamed it on corporate. They claim they are never informed of backordered product unless they call corporate. If corporate is responsible, this problem is deeper than it should be.
By this time I guess they were mad at me even though when I went to the store to cancel I was very polite. I would advise you buyers out there to purchase ONLY what they have in stock. Furthermore, I would recommend NOT buying from them. They sell you the product, then you on your own. Beware and good luck Buyers !!

I went to LL flooring to have hardwood floors insatlled in 2 bedrooms in my house. So i was told that someone would come to my house to measure our gloors. That was fine, there was no problem with that. The problem started when i called the store back to ask them what the when they would come out to install the floors. I called the store 3 times and spoke to 3 different people. The individual told me that they would call me back with the exact pricing and a start date each time. This never happened. So im going to find another company to do the job. I dont know why no one ever called me back. I told my wife that business must be good and they dont need another customer. I wont be going back to them any time soon.

Buyer Beware, biggest SCAM operation running from the Lumber Liquidator Store located at 3801 Harlem Rd. Cheektowaga NY
Bought our flooring from LL at 3801 Harlem Rd. Cheektowaga store and had it installed this past Feb 2013. When we initially went there, we were met by the store manager "Dave" (He was very sick at the time, remember!) and informed him we were looking for a floor that would not scratch as we had two small dogs. We stressed to Dave the manager and flooring expert that our main concern was not so much the flooring or cost, but that did not want to invest in something that would scratch. Dave showed us some floor samples and said to us "it will not scratch from your dogs, i have a dog and the same flooring in my house and mine has no scratches". We trusted you Dave and being you were the manager and a corporate representative for LL and a expert in flooring, we again gave you our trust and purchased approx. $5000.00 in flooring from you. Well not more than two weeks after it was installed, we noticed scratches on the floor. Scratches that Dave, the purported expert, said would not happen. We immediately called our installer John Minor and upon his inspection he stated “I’ve never seen a floor so badly scratched and so quickly in my 9 year career, this is bad". Folks this floor wasn't down 5 weeks. We were given some scratch removal product from LL, and let me tell you it is sh**, it did nothing to remove, fix or even hide the numerous scratches. We called LL and spoke with Dave who gave us the standard answer, “You have a problem, call the 800 number, file a claim, it's out of our hands". Thanks Dave. Well we did contact the 800 number and spoke with the so called "Customer Relation Specialist" John (No last name given). He informed us of the procedures to file a claim, it required us to take 10 pictures of the damaged floor, fill give a detail explanation of the damage and send it to him. We did everything required. I asked John "When will someone come out and look at the floor". John said "no one will come out and look", and we should hear something in about 10 days or so. So we waited, during which time we put booties on our dogs feet and again tried to rub out the scratches with the LL scratch removal solution. Well folks guess what we received 10 days later in the mail, you guessed it, we received a standard corporate form letter form John, (no last name on letter) and you might guess it basically said "Sorry not our problem" . Comments like "No additional action regarding this matter, as this is not a warrantable claim". Additional comments in the form letter were surprising such as " A thorough review has been undertaken by LL Inc. regarding your concerns of scratches and fading within your floor" ( Riiiiiight) and " it should be noted that while laminate finishes are scratch resistant, there are no claims of the finish being scratch or dent proof". I guess Dave's claim to us as manager within LL Corporation that we would not experience scratches is not a claim of no scratches? A corporate employee is not held accountable for direct mis-representation. Oh, wait, just say anything (Lie), for a sale and screw the customer, John (No last name) will just send them a corp. form letter later, who cares. Well folks we are just simple people here in Western NY and trust those who give their word, particularly when they represent themselves as so called experts.

Here is my advice to my fellow consumers:
DO NOT GO TO LUMBER LIQUIDATOR AT 3801 HARLEM RD. in CHEEKTOWAGA or any LL store. THERE IS NO WARRANTY WITH THIS CORPORATION, don't believe a word out of the mouths of anyone who works there, anyone who represents LL, any written documents from LL, any advertising from LL, anyone who does contract work for them, anyone who provides or calls themselves a "Customer Relations Specialist". Should you do, you too will be writing a review like i am today, $5000.00 later, heartbroken, having being treated so badly and having a floor that is a piece of sh**. Don't do this to yourself, it is your home.

Finally, you got us Dave, hope you and your pathetic staff got a good laugh at our expense or at least you spent the commission paycheck well. I can only hope that the NY State Attorney General’s Office gets people like you who lie to the public, misrepresent product and falsely make statements, people like you who support scrams like Lumber liquidator Inc. does to the good folks of Western NY and takes the appropriate legal actions. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Two years ago we ordered Morning Star bamboo flooring for our home from Lumber Liquidators After the fourth week of acclimation we began to install our flooring (in late June). In August we went on vacation to return to floors that had shrunk from the quarter round by about 1/2 of an inch. My husband and I discussed the issue and decided that we would add extra molding between the baseboard and the quarter round this would add close to 3/4 of an inch for coverage. We thought surely there is no way the flooring would shrink beyond that point. We shopped for a solution finally we added a piece of chair rail (about1/2 of an inch in thickness) against the baseboard then added the quarter round which cover any shrinkage. We also added extra pieces of the flooring under the door frames to cover the areas of shrinkage It has yet again shrunk so much so that now there about a 1/4 of an inch gap due to shrinkage from the edge of the flooring to the quarter round. We contacted our local Lumber Liquidators store to be directed to the warranty department. Photos were sent with a explanation of how we tried to repair/cover the shrinkage prior to submitting a complaint. We were told gaps are to be expected. Also they implied that our room size was too large not to have a t molding piece in the middle. This problem is not an instillation issue, it is 100% a product issue. This company was quick to sell their product by using the warranty, but don't you dare mention warranty when you are having a problem. Of course your warranty doesn't cover that. With all that being said morning star bamboo floors are beautiful in looks but suck in quality. Lumber Liquidators doesn't stand behind their products. I would never recommend this company for the purchase of anything. Saving a few dollars up front will surely catch up with you in the end. Do not do business with this company!

I purchased almost 1100 sq ft of brazillian pecan solid flooring from the Colorado Springs store. The service and follow up I have received from the staff there has been outstanding. They always follow up on their promises and all product was delivered on time. My main sales associate was Matt, and he has been a big help giving advice on the install which I will do myself. Others in the store; Caleb, Dakota and Mike have also been quite helpful to me. I am in the process of aclimation, so I will wrie another review after I install the product.

We purchased 1250 sq. ft. of wood flooring from LL approximately 16 months ago, to be installed in a home we just purchased - prior to us moving in. We received the flooring a week or so before move in, and brought into the house to get to room temp. The installers showed up a couple days later, unpacked the flooring - then called us to come over to show us the flooring and the many, many pieces that had extremely poor staining. They suggested not to install - but unfortunately due to the move in schedule (in 4 days), that was not possible.

When we tried to follow up with LL - via phone and email - about the problems, it was difficult getting any initial response. And when we did, they 'connected' us to a representative. After not hearing anything for at least month fro the representative, we tried again - but no luck.

After many months of similar lack of response - and us pushing - a response finally came back and basically told us 'too bad, you already installed, not our problem'.

Recently, we even sent an email to 'the desk of Tom Sullivan' (CEO) wondering if he cared about LLs reputation, having an ethical company who puts quality products and service as the highest priority (which also would retain repeat customers) - and just doing the right thing, you would not only correct our situation but your customer support situation. We received the same run around as before (you installed, our warrant states, not our problem) - except quicker this time.

Just a PS - the people at the Blaine, MN store were quality people and VERY helpful. It was your support and follow up process that was horrendous.

In November 2015, I purchased several hundred square feet of Morningstar click lock carbonized stranded bamboo flooring to install in the second floor bedrooms of our home. I had previously purchased a similar nail down flooring and installed it throughout the first floor and stairway of my home and was very happy with it. I was also very happy with the customer service I received from Lumber Liquidators and referred many people to your store and your products.
Unfortunately, the click lock flooring I purchased is an unacceptable product and the customer service I have received has been deplorable. After installation, the flooring snaps and pops when you walk on it. It is a very nice looking floor, but the noise it makes when you walk on it is completely unacceptable. I called the customer service helpline several times and have been treated very poorly. The first time I called, the customer service representative said she would have someone contact me regarding my complaint. Instead, the next thing I received was a letter stating that my flooring was improperly installed. No-one ever came to look at it and I installed it as directed, yet a customer service representative took one phone call and determined that the installation was the problem and not the product.
Thereafter I have called several times and asked to speak with a supervisor. Each time I have been told that no supervisor is on duty or that they will call me back. I did not receive a call back until I went to the store and complained to the manager on duty. At that time, a flooring inspector came out and informed us that the reason the flooring was making the unacceptable noise was because it had not been glued at the joints. I pulled up the floor and reinstalled it with glued joints. It still made the noise.
In another room I tried glueing the floor down with the same result. We are terribly disatisfied with the flooring product we have received and will be removing it from our home with the intent of replacing it with some other type of covering.

3/20/17

To whom it may concern,
I personally contacted lumber liquidators on 3/19/17 regarding my purchase of bamboo strand flooring on November 26, 2016. As explained to the customer service representative over the phone, my installer and I discovered (for the first time) the product was defective since the cartons contained 3 different colors of flooring.

Upon physically entering the store yesterday, assistant manager at the cranberry store told me that the multi colors were by design and that he would not offer a refund or exchange. He only suggested I call customer service , even though I argued that the sample in his store that I saw when I originally purchased the flooring was one (single) color, just as every sample currently in the store is today!

The representative offered no solution and refused my request to speak to a supervisor, so I exchanged the flooring and paid an additional $200 for non defective flooring while also incurring additional costs since my installer was idle for hours.

Could this just all be an example of some "bait and switch" game lumber liquidators plays on its customers? I think so and considering how several of your managers mishandled the situation, it only reinforces the probability and compels me to inform consumers through emails and social media outlets.

Sincerely,

From the very beginning it started off wrong, I tried to use Ebates, (because they offered it) but the app would not work, then after waiting several days to get the phone call that my order had arrived I receive an email saying that I had to download the receipts , sign them and return them to the co, before my order could be shipped, I gave my credit card, and thought all was well, not so, they contact me to say that my order was there and could be picked up , not bothering to tell me that I still had to pay for the second 1/2 of the order, I sent a friend 30+MILES ONE WAY to pick it up, only to be told that the rest of the order must be paid for first, my friend did not have that much money with him, us not having been told that we had to bring the bal due on the order, so he had to turn around and go all the way back home without the order. At this point I totally expect them to return my order to the place it originated from and give me a hassle in getting my so called deposit back. I am tee totally and completely disgusted with the way they have treated me, I really truly hope they do not give me any more grief over this order.

Hello all , what a disappointment , where do I start , the only positive thing I can say the guys at the store were nice to deal with , but it stops there , I have been laying floors did about 20 years , and this is my first time dealing with this company and there products , I purchased 400 sq ft of 12mm golden teak lam, it's really easy to lay down , but but but , it's very cheaply made materials , about 100 sq ft had damaged ends or easily cheap when laying them on the ground , that's about 25 % of thx flooring I purchased , I feel this floor is not gonna last a few months not 30 years , I would not recommend this flood to anyone not even they were paying me in gold !!

I went to the Rockville store in Maryland today 9/12/2015. I was so distraught with the way I was treated. Worst customer service I have ever received! By the way, don't try to take your concern to the manager, he is just as rude and uncaring. I will never do business with Lumber Liquidators again!

We purchased flooring from lumber liquidators for our rental home and turned out to be bad flooring, it was advertised as scratch resistant well it was anything but, it started scratching like butter, a day after it was in, even with pads on the bottom of items, The rep called me back with a very rude tone to her voice, with a loophole with their definition of scratch resistant, it was nothing but a loophole answer. She even told me that and i quote(EVEN METAL AND STEELE AND BRICK Scratch.) So the bottom line is because of (their) definition of scratch resistant they are going to do nothing about the bad flooring they sold us, we were told basically to bad so sad. We will never buy from them again. I encourage all consumers to stand up against this kind of corporate powertrip bullying and boycott this bad company. This may be the reason why they have been sued in the past. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.

So my wife and I got talked into Tranquility peel and stick 2mm vinyl wood flooring by a LL rep in Minnesota. I can say with 100% certainty that the peel and stick has the adhesive qualities of a Teflon pan (meaning none). My wife and I have flipped 3 houses and used a variety of flooring and none has been worse than the tranquility vinyl. Within 1 week of installation it had started peeling up at edges and corners and no amount of stomping, hammering or rolling would keep it down.
So I spent weeks working with lumber liquidators filing my claim and got asked the same questions multiple times ranging from % humidity during and after install to the phase of the moon and alignment of stars(maybe not quite that far... but close). Anyways did I get a refund? an offer to replace the floor with another one at reduced cost?, anything at all?..... Nope I got denied.

Worst customer service ever, if you pay in cash they will not give you a refund when you return there products, you have to wait 3 to 5 weeks for a check from corporate. Really, do they have to wait for my US dollars to clear. Never again will I purchase from this chain...buyer beware..

I am a home builder. I submitted my second claim for a floor that is gapping. I sent it in four times as they always said it has not been received. They of course denied this claim too. In fact, I was told not to file a 3rd claim as the result would be the same.
I would caution anyone from purchasing from Lumber Liquidators. The guys at the store are great to work with but the bottom line is, they don't stand behind their products.
