I don’t think they even deserve a star. Don’t waste your money on this warranty . I’m not sure how they get away with this day light robbery . They do everything they can to avoid paying out . My situation with timiming chain on a BMW X5 was luckily and unlucky as I’m still having to pay over £1000 to reapir . This was caught early on and I was advised by several garages including BMW the time chain needed replacing. I rang up motorway direct and intially they wanted me to take it for another dygnosis even though I provided one from BMW . Anyways long story cut short because the car has not failed / broken down they said it will not be covered. In other words they wanted the chain to snap before they will do anything about it. Had the chain snapped this would have cost 10 x more to repair. they are refusing to pay now just imagine what they would have said if it had snapped . They would be looking for another loop hole to getting out paying . Bottom line is , do not buy this warranty . I will be taking this to the Financial ombudsman and encourage others to do the same . It’s no coincidence there are more negative reviews than positive. if they are deemed to be ripping off customers then FCA will investigate them too . Which could result in the company making changes in the way they handle claims and actually pay up and not look for loopholes .

My car was recently written off through no fault of my own. The motor insurer (LV) were supportive, offered a fair valuation and settled within a week. Rolls Royce service from them. My gap insurance unfortunately is administered by Motorway Direct who offer more of a Reliant Robin experience. Initial contact was fine and all requested information was supplied to them within a few days. Nothing then for a week at which point they requested copies of bank statements showing the original payment for the car. This despite having a copy of the dealer invoice and the purchase being nearly six years ago. Not to mention the fact that the policy is for a Replacement Car and therefore the purchase price is irrelevant. Tried to explain this to a pretty useless call centre employee who could only repeat her mantra of its what the underwriters want ! Luckily my bank were efficient and managed to find the statements which I supplied over a week ago to Motorway Direct whilst also making an official complaint about this rather blatant attempt to delay meeting their liability. Since then not heard a word from Motorway Direct. Probably they are busily thinking of new information to request. Blood type of the salesman, shoe size of the service manager perhaps ! The policy states very clearly that claims will be settled within 14 days of the motor insurers settlement. As they are now in breach of contract in that regard I will seek interest on the eventual settlement and appeal to the Ombudsman should they demur. Given that the current judgement rate applied to Ombudsman compensation claims is 8% perhaps there is a silver lining after all. Watch this space.

First time I've ever had to make a claim, the lady I spoke to was straightforward, patient and made the experience a positive one. Very fast at getting back to confirm my claim and even contacted my garage directly. Superb service.

Having bought a car 11 months ago from a dealer I have had to put a claim in on my motorway direct / AA warranty for the turbocharger as it has failed, I phoned the AA and they recommended that I use one of their trusted garages and so I did, I paid for the vehicle to be recovered to them and the following morning halford garage called me and said the turbocharger has failed, they then phoned the AA and said what the problem was and the reply from the AA is that they think it’s lack of service, baring in mind the car isn’t due a service for 400 miles! The service history is also computerised so it can’t be tampered with, After speaking to various mechanics and also the mechanic team at Halfords they have all said the same thing.’you can’t service a turbo and it has just failed’ so the AA arrange for a 3rd party assessment to be carried out and the result was unclear, now they want me to agree to letting them have someone take the turbo apart and diagnose the problem, (pointless) but also say that if it comes back and it’s down to misuse or lack of service then I will be footing the bill! I am so stressed out with the whole situation, I thought that if I buy a car for £11500 with a 12 month warranty that covers everything that I would be fine but boy how wrong was I, the staff are all working off a script and are so unhelpful, managers don’t exist so there’s no point in asking, and most of them are patronising,rude and only want one outcome, to make sure the AA or motorway direct get out of paying for any repairs, I strongly advise anyone looking to buy a car not to buy one with a warranty from this company and I will definitely be staying well clear of them! The most stressful 3 weeks of my life dealing with these stupid people! Been without a vehicle for 3 weeks and counting and when asked if they could help with a courtesy car the response is .... yes mr Davies, you will have to pay for the first day and then we will cover you for up to 7 days after that but if the labour to fix the car is less than 8 hours we don’t contribute at all. That to me says it all! A mechanic could take a whole car apart and reassemble it in that time frame!!! What an absolute joke of a company! Let’s see what court says!

Absolutely god send, bought tyre warranty for my Bmw from this company , was tried to be sold from car retailer ,stupid price , looked on website of motorway direct price of one tyre covered all on my car , best investment I’ve made ,I’ve used the service 5 times over the warranty period, no problems ,very efficient, would use this company again on my future purchase .

My bill was£275 for a coolant split tank, only getting £112 from motorway direct. What's the point in having warranty if you can't claim full amount

Good luck trying to get through to motorway direct on the phone,they do not answer your call,I tried on 5 separate occasions and each time no one would answer my calls.

Worst company I’ve ever had to deal with, A motor in my light had gone which they told me on my first call that they covered then when it got sent to the garage and the report came back as the motor was gone in the light they then changed their minds and said it was no longer covered because it’s in the lighting unit, can’t say it enough how bad and unprofessional they were, happy enough to take your money but not happy to give you what you pay for, also when the car was in the garage the was no communication between the garage and the warranty company I was the one passing the messages to them both. It got to the point were the garage had to put my old light back in until they heard from the warranty

Filled out there online claims form to receive no communication back at all in five days from them sent numerous email in the five days to receive no reply at all could of had the car fixed but states in there terms and conditions they will not pay out for unauthorised works so I’m left with a car that doesn’t work and a useless warranty company

Morning been with this company for over 5 years , I had the best cover platinum .
My car went wrong to do with the gearbox the car was recovered to a local garage .
I followed there advice to have the box dropped to see the fault . The garage said which part had broke . Motorway direct wouldn't pay because the flywheel was faulty . Which was the point of the insurance. Please don't waste your money !

I have had Motorway insurance now for almost five years with only one minor claim but recently, I had the misfortune to have a rather expensive breakdown. I rang Motorway up to find out how to claim. The gentleman on the other end of the phone talked me through the procedure which proved to be easy. I took my car to the garage of my choice ( where it was annually serviced ), they diagnosed the fault and got in touch with the insurers who gave the go ahead. My car will be back in service within the week. The only downside was that I had to pay the garage cash then claim it back from Motorway Direct
