If I could give them nothing I would. Been waiting since beginning of October for my refund. I've now contacted the energy ombudsmen. They've said it may take 8 weeks but at least I know that my money will be coming back to me. So if you've complained and you've been waiting over 8 weeks I recommend you do the same

Please avoid this company at all costs no matter how tempting it's low prices may be. When something goes wrong they do not care. For the past 2 weeks myself and my 2 young children have been left with no hot water or heating. It's the middle of winter and it's also Christmas so as you can imagine it's been a horrendous time for us It all started when we couldn't get our boiler to come on. We rang a plumber who came out and instantly said it's not the boiler it's the gas meter. We then rang economy energy who are responsible for the meter. They refused to send an engineer out and simply said it's not our problem it's your boiler. This went on for a few days. Eventually we had no option but to ring an emergency gas engineer out who instantly condemed the meter as it was a danger to use !. Finally economy agreed to send an engineer out who installed a new meter and ensured a card to credit the meter would be with us shortly. A week later and after our Christmas being ruined and 2 children full of cold no card arrived. When I rang them they said they would send someone out....surprise surprise no one came. They then order a temporary card for us to collect from a local shop. Upon collected card and putting money on it we discovered it was invalid ! Now we are not only out of gas still but are out of pocket until the money we put on the card is returned to the bank. This company is ran by utter idiots. They have no idea what they are doing.

I switched supplier from Economy Energy (to SSE) at about the time of the collapse of Economy. I took actual readings, but they are still threatening to take further action for the non-payment of the final electric bill, which they are ESTIMATING at more than it actually is now (6 months later); they are demanding over £400, despite SSE raising a "Cost Dispute" with them, and giving them the actual readings again, they seem unable to come up with an accurate bill. When I get a bill based on actual readings, I will pay it. They have not even been able to record my name on account correspondence. Awful, no wonder they went bust, but they are still trying to get people to give money they do not owe!

Best news i have heard today. Got what they deserve they are a total waste of time including all staff a load of morons total liars. Was with them only 6 months and left them. Yes they owe me money but i have had some back. Feel sorry for the people who are owed loads good luck. My problem is now with the ombudsman not holding my breath. However take my advise my new company Bristol Energy excellent.

If i could leave zero stars i would certainly do so. Economy energy have owed me approximately £110 since early November 2018 when i moved to Eon. Three phone calls later to them and 3 lies from them about receiving the refund and i am still waiting for the money . Please stay well away from this company if you want ever to receive any credit back on your final bill. And as the other reviewers have noted the customer service is dreadful.

Similar experience of poor customer service and ineffective complaints process as other unfortunate customers of Economy Energy. Left on 17 August and 5 months later still waiting to receive the refund of £203. All I have heard from their customer service and more recently their complaints team is that the refund has been approved and I'll receive it soon. I am still waiting! Delighted to note earlier today that the regulator has the same dim view of this company.

Do not change to this supplier. I switched from them and they confirmed a credit balance on switch over. It took weeks of letters emails abd eventually a ccj being issued to get repaid truly awful admin and customer service. DO NOT DEAL cheap for a reason. If a supplier already carefully watch payments against usage

I  used to go for the cheapest, it did not work out well: Utility Warehouse billed incorrectly after ignoring readings, I had to pay a £600 bill on the spot. GB Energy went bust less than a year after I joined after MSE had endorsed them on their switching site, I'd accumulated a large credit balance I never got back. Iresa was fined by ofgem on multiple failings, overcharged, went bust. They had zero customer support and never input readings, new supplier had to back-bill hundreds.  Tried Economy Energy who over-billed customers by hundreds, banned from taking on new customers and have now become insolvent. Same with OurPower who have also folded, Toto and Solarplicity, Eversmart, Uttily,Brilliant energy. Gnergy about to go bust, Robin Hood have just had to borrow nearly 10 million £ to stay afloat. Breeze energy, and Delta Gas and Power also rocky. These companies also attract huge fines for not sourcing enough energy from renewable sources which is bad for the planet and back for your pocket. Companies with tight margins over-bill customers to claw back extra cash to try to keep afloat, so there aren't really savings despite them advertising 'cheaper' unit rates. They have little to no support & eventually go bust taking your credit you've built up with them, it's a pattern we are seeing more and more. Nobody wants to have to spend hours, weeks, months dealing with consumer complaints and trying to retrieve back their credit from being over-billed or over estimated readings. Please consider your own mental health,go with a solid and reliable company. Currentlly with Bulb, got £50 for joining *credited as soon as my account went live. Website is efficient, updates quickly, good online presence, reliable support phone & email, 100% renewable electricity, and will install a free smart meter if you wish. Join Bulb and get £50 credit, AND they pay any exit fees from your old supplier. No exit fees to leave, if unhappy you can switch for free - you still get your free £50 it's a win-win. Claim £50 credit free using the following link: join.bulb.co.uk/?referral=jos9014

Left early October- still fighting for gas refund of over £430 (I was given a date but they didn’t transfer funds) Also took dual fuel payments after the switch date so sought that money via my bank. My husband had his calls terminated when he asked for a supervisor and was refused a complaints department telephone number. Now I have cancelled the DD I have been told a cheque will be in the post...

Over 12 months since I paid my final closing bill with Economy Energy, I now have a debt collecting agency on my case asking for payments I do not owe. I bought a house and changed energy supplier within 3 weeks - I paid a final bill amount that reflected the fact the house had been empty for those 3 weeks. I was harassed last August by the collections department for more money and now 12 months on, they are trying their luck again. When speaking to Allied International Credit who are requesting the payment, they were of no help and advised they could put my account on hold only for 4 days while a bill was requested from Grant Thornton. Rip off company.

Its been nearly 3 months trying to get a refund. They keep saying that the money will be paid "next week", or "we are experiencing some backlogs in our payment systems" etc etc. This is either lies, incompetence or poor systems. Or possibly all 3!

Personally, I will avoid this company in future.

Since the 'switch' my bill is £300+ in just two months... My monthly spend is less than £60. Now I have been threatened with debt collectors by Ovo energy, I paid my direct debit and never ever missed a patment. This is so stressfull. I have a disabled adult and child living in my house

Left EE last August and was awaiting my credit refund of £451. Was going though the refund process before EE went under, with the company and the ombudsman. Since ovo have taken over the ombudsman said they don’t know how to deal with the case. I emailed ovo a few times and they adviced me to wait for another 6 weeks untill the old suppler has sent over the account details. Instead I called ovo and they were brilliant. I called a week ago and they told me the funds were there and waiting and would be with me in the next 14days. Today I finally received my refund!

First they increased my direct debit for no good reason and took the new amount until I had over £200 in credit. Then they sent me an estimated bill for over £450 for 4200 kWh in 6 weeks! That more than wiped out my credit and payments so they increased my direct debit again and continued charging that, even after they had ceased trading.
Over 3 months later and OVO refuse to sort out my billing as my meter today still reads thousands of kWh less than I've already paid for!
Worst company I've ever had the misfortune to deal with. I can't say I'm glad they went bust as they stole well over £370 which I now stand no chance of seeing again.
The government needs to put PROPER regulation and a COMPENSATION SCHEME in place immediately to stop rogues like these.

Two or three years after leaving economy energy for being the worst provider I have ever known, they first contacted me to ask if I would reconsider and go back to them, I declined and I am now getting text messages and phone calls telling me that I owe them money, which I do not, I have told them repeatedly to take me to court but instead I get voicemail messages. Whilst with them I would top up with my key, go home to find my money had gone to the company but no electricity was forthcoming. When eventually it did, it disappeared at a rate of knots as if I was paying for the whole street let alone a single man in a one bed flat. I suffer with mental health issues and EE made things a whole lot worse. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.

Still waiting for my rebate since last November, had final bill 11 weeks ago but still no money back, just contacted them again as they state on website it can take up to 5 weeks after final bill for money to be payed in, now being told to wait another 4 weeks.
Something is not working with the rules set out for the customer rights, these company's would not be happy if I owed them money for a fraction of this time.

Not sure why the score for this company is 4.4 - it has not had good reviews for 6 months yet and has been 4.4 since January. Really shows how poor Trustpilot is when the positive reviews the company used paid for TP tools to ask for dominate the score - even 7 months after they stopped! The algorithm of the score clearly favours a company buying TP services. TP is proved worthless.

Dear Lubna Khilji

No stars is a better rating for Economy Energy! Start paying the ex-customers their money and stop operating come illicit credit company. You owe ££millions in ROC payments and customers over-payments where you have deliberately overcharged people again and again even after they have left Economy Energy.

Dear naive Economy Energy Customer relations person,
Start getting paid up front as this company is going down! Not paying your creditors, customers and suppliers is the first sign of cash flow problems and a company going belly up. As for my issues I have been in touch with Economy Energy repeatedly and nothing changes all the same old excuses of back logs, working our way through spreadsheets. It is going to be repaid. Complete lies!

At best Economy Energy are working to a deadline dates in their spreadsheets according to OfGEM specified time limits for complaints & repayment rules. Worst case, is there's no money and Lubna and John McKenzie in my opinion crooks trying to get as much money out now as they can. OfGEM needs to shut her down!
