Used Energy Australia several years ago (electricity and gas) - but stopped after five incorrect gas invoices in a row. After hours on the phone and sending photos of our meter they agreed to apply credits, but next invoice also wrong so we moved retailers. After moving, gas account was in credit, but EA refused to pay on basis it was still being investigated. Never heard from them again.

Last year we built a new house and electrician suggested giving EA another go - which we did.
Billing problems again - this time one-off electricity charges which we have not incurred. They say they can't change the invoice - as charges have come from the distributor - they asked us to pay anyway as different charge types should have been invoiced - and it would even out.

So moving again - won't be back for a third try.
Would add - their customer service reps were a mixed lot - some were good - others just plain rude and shouldn't be in their jobs. It's the plain rude ones you always remember and rate a company on.

Signed up to EA after being offered what I thought was a solar feed in tarrif locked in for 12 months. 2 months later the feed in tarrif was reduced by 30%. After reading the fine print in the PDS, it stated that EA may change the rate by giving the customer written notice. No such written notice was given to me.
I found that I was mislead into signing with EA.

I received a gas bill today for my house that is still under construction. I expected a connection charge, which i would of been fine with, but to receive an Estimated Usage Amount on a property that is only half way through being built is ridiculous. Furthermore the call center was no help at all. STAY AWAY!!

Paid bill by due date was told to pay 3 days in advance in order to receive the discount on paying on time? due to paying via credit card (understandable it will take time to process)but that should not be a fault of ours if we pay on time and by that date!!!Why state a due date and then they return to tell you that in order to receive the discount pay it 3 days early? spoke with Julius and as of courtesy agreed to the discount amount even though I paid by the due date???... not worth signing with - took the initiative to contact and ensure that payment went through and they said to pay in advance -

I telephoned them to say that they have been calculating my pay on time discount on the daily usage charge only, when they should have been calculating it on the daily supply charge as well. They told me that it only gets calculated on the daily supply charge for newer contracts.

I quoted the terms and conditions emailed to me on the day I signed up for my contract that CLEARLY STATED the discount would be calculated on the daily supply charge as well. They told me that I must be "misunderstanding the contract" and that they were aware that the conditions had changed for a contract affecting me but that they had run their calculations and determined that I was better off under the old conditions.

I got out all by old bills and worked out what I would have been charged under the rates displayed on their website. For every single quarter the newer rates resulted in a saving for me. I am currently looking for a better electricity company to switch to, one that is hopefully capable of adhering to it's stated terms and conditions.

I was moving properties I rang 3 weeks earlier and organised a disconnection and reconnection. A few days before I found out I couldn’t move for 2 more weeks, I rang and organised that my new connection wouldn’t go ahead and to keep my current connection. This company was able to not put my new connection on, however still disconnected my current property and then when I rang told me the call never happened and charged me $150 for reconnection fees for 2 weeks.!

Despite the name this is a chinese owned company, it took 3 weeks of constant live chat and empty email responses just to get the power connected, they stated in their sign up process that a $50 credit would be provided, however it only came off the connection fee, I’m really regretting the decision to choose this company already

So disappointed with the service - I changed to EA and they confirmed the Solar Feed in Tariff I would receive, only to find out two weeks after joining it was scheduled to drop. This was never mentioned to me at the time that I was joining! This is so unprofessional! Then you have to ring their call centre which is based in the Philipines..... these guys struggle to understand what you are saying and their responses are not appropriate! Seriously we have such unemployment in Australia and we allow these guys to send potential local jobs off shore!!! I had to call them after I had cancelled my account to get my credits paid to me.

Was shocked with my last quarterly bill
It was more than the previous one
It could not possibly be right
Due to the fact that nothing had changed except for a Family of 4 had moved OUT and took their fridge with them!!!
Spoke to several people, overseas
apparently the meter was read and correct... impossible!
Their response was ..sign up for a contract to receive discount

I have been with Energy Australia for over 10 years. I got solar panels and switched to a new plan. First bill and they reduced the solar feed in tariff without notification. Contacted them and after 7 days, one live chat and 2 phone calls they still cannot produce the notification. Even with a SPECIALIST saying they would do it in 48 hours. Even their SPECIALIST can’t find the notification and unable to send it. Changing contract details such as rates without notification is very poor and a good way to lose customers. Wasted too much time with them on this. I have switched to a better deal and getting close to my my original contracted feed in tariff rate.

I had to make approximately 20 calls to customer service to have my solar programmed. Consistently was told conflicting information from staff. "it will be backdated, don't worry", next person "no, we can't back date" happened 4+ time with different consultants giving differing versions.

Joined energy Australia after being with AGL a few months went by no bill started calling they said you don’t have solar even though I had been getting solar credits from AGL. Lots of phone calls still no bill the worst customer service and no bill and back to agl I go lol... DON’T DO IT

Have been with Energy Australia for over 13 years. Am now researching my options and need to change providers. Wasn't billed properly for two years and was told 'oh you mustn't have used any electricity that month'. Direct debit fails to work every electricity bill however works perfectly for the gas bill. I alerted them to the issue last year. I was told at the time that a lot of customers have experienced this issue and there must be a fault. To this date, this is still not rectified. I then have to argue to receive the pay on time discount every bill. It shouldn't be this difficult. Solar tariff is now reducing and costs now going up.

Had to make 10-15 calls to get our service sorted out in December 2019. They kept saying we had the wrong information/our solar installer had the wrong information/Energex had the wrong information- when in fact their system and admin was the problem. Once our power and solar account was finally resolved and connected to the grid, they then reduced our solar feed in tarrif by about 33% without notifying us!!! Finally got a letter 2 months after the reduction saying that they hadn't told us of the reduction. No apology, no offer of a discount or anything to try and remedy the situation. So we left them.

After only one single billing period EA have made an arbitrary and out of the blue 28% reduction to their FIT. Like others I rang them and asked why, or whether my usage rate was going to reduce to offset the change. They did not care at all that Origin were keen to take my business with cheaper usage rate, and a 15c FIT. Cannot believe in this day and age how nonchalant they were about this change. Even without EA's 11% discount I am better of moving to Origin, which I have done today.

Called to discuss my plan and see what they could do to help and the woman at first said that they could "massively" reduce our account - I asked her why they don't just do that and she said because they can't! What a joke that they just continue to rip off good customers that have been with them for years just because they can. I told her that customers shouldn't have to threaten to leave before they give you a good price on your accounts.
Then said she didn't want to speak to me anymore so I said to just get someone else to call me back who actually wanted to listen to me. Said she would do that but I doubt very much that anyone will bother to call back. I guess I'll wait and see.

We got charged 9 months of bills all at once even though we were on direct debit. So because of a glitch on their end we were forced to make a payment plan over a year period to absorb the debt. The next day a payment came through for the entire first bill amounting to ~$850. I tried to get this money back cause we already signed up to pay for this, and I was told they could not do so as we were still owing money. We have just got through this past year of payments and changed over to another provider and to top it all off I see now we have been paying 30% higher rates with Energy Australia! Do not deal with them under any circumstance!

Gas/ electricity, process time was ok, power is ok no dropouts, gas was an issue as the meter hasn’t been working for over a year and no one picked up on it

After contacting energy aus to change address 2 days in a row they never came out to connect, now over Easter we have no power/gas, terrible service and very poor quality, such poor regard for a very loyal customer

Started off very good when I swapped to them early this year but dropped their feed in tariff from 16.1 to 11.5 but FORGOT to tell me, and only let me know nearly 3 months after with no offer of compensation for their stuff up!
