Very helpful customer services who sorted out discount code. Their new signature lounge is great. Makes a lovely pleasant place esp after a long car journey. Well worth the cost especially if booked in advance (has to be done by phone not online yet)

My partner and I travelled on the 1.30pm East Cowes to Southampton crossing, yesterday 28th February. We upgraded to the signature lounge and the service was awful. The staff were all outside smoking, and there wasn’t anyone to greet. We were eventually offered a drink by a man, but it wasn’t friendly. There then wasn’t any table service at all. The man was borderline rude and completely disinterested for the rest of the journey. I had to ask for another drink myself, and when I came to the bar to get it, he was on his phone.

Really, it isn’t acceptable to be paying for a better service and then have employees who aren’t bothered about giving it to you. The ferry is expensive enough as it is, so to pay extra and not feel it was worth it is a real shame.

It would also be a good idea to have somewhere to hang your coats as they were soaking and getting water all over the chairs and tables.

There is one thing which could be improved the lady over the tannoy system yesterday on the 9am sailing could be more enthusiastic when speaking, instead of sounding down and sleepy, but apart from that always very good.

COVID-19
We were being kept in our vehicles for the entire 1 hour journey without the option of a comfort break, not acceptable especially after a 2 hour journey. Please consider this for future sailings (we could have been advised of this when checking in, we could have then used the onshore facilities).
Red funnel staff were not observing the social distancing rules, 4 members of staff were all stood within a metre of each other within a confined area. When chat to customers they were leaning close to the open car windows, again total disregard for 2 metre distancing.

Our booked 07-30 departure was cancelled so we had to wait for the 09-00 and on our return to get back to the Island the following day we arrived in plenty of time for the 19-30 which was cancelled and had to wait for the 21-00. Don’t know if either could have been avoided but just frustrating when it happens to you in both directions !

The service and crossing was very good, my complaint is with Corona virus spreading, there was no hand sanitizers we came up from the lower car deck and at the top there was no sanitizer, nearly everyone held the same handrails, we looked around that area and there was no santasizer, except one that had a cover over it so you could not use it, they then called us to offload the captain said please use the handrails and take care on the stairs, once again we all held the hand rails on the way down, we looked for a santaizer at the bottom and on the car deck and there was none.

Very disappointed in Red Funnels safety of customers and staff, and it needs to be looked at, the captain should of said please hold the hand rails, and when you get to the bottom of the stairs on the car deck you will fined a hand sanitizer please use it on both hands, and the same on the way up.

Come on Red Funnel do you bit to save lives.

Unfortunately the event we were going to was cancelled the night before and we were unable to change our booking online or even phone because the booking office was closed and when we arrived we couldn't even change our return booking which meant a long day for nothing.

We were two family’s traveling with children in half term 9 travelling in total. I totally expect it to be busy but to not even be able to seat the children is totally unacceptable. Money aside, although we did pay just over £100 for the trip together I think having a seat each that you have rightly paid for is a given. There was absolutely no apology and certainly no alternative. We had to seat out children on the floor next to the top the stairs which straight away is a health and safety issue. You could quiet clearly see that the ferry had been over booked. When I challenged them on this they explained that seating for passengers also included the outside space which in the middle of February with rain just isn’t acceptable. Unfortunately living on the island this is the one big issue that I have to deal with generally on a monthly basis.
Staff a left to deal with unhappy passengers and of course management are no where insite.

I phoned to reschedule my booking yesterday in light of the strong government advice not to travel and to stay away from elderly, vulnerable people during the Covid-19 outbreak. I tried to rebook for June only to be told that I would have to pay the fare difference of £80 as the discount code I originally booked with would have expired by then. If I cancel I will forfeit half of my fare. I am pretty appalled that, given the current circumstances, Red Funnel are not honouring fares paid and profiteering from a global disaster. It will make me think twice before choosing red funnel to travel with in the future.

Red funnel are not prepared to inform their customers of road works that are causing traffic build up on the M3 motorway and into The Southampton ferry terminal this is very poor customer service, I will be boycotting red funnel in future

3 boats cancelled in one evening. Waited since 5:30Pm until 9pm for a boat. The boat was then full meaning. Then we where told we HAVE TO leave the car and sit in a crowd of people upstairs. Putting us at risk.

My email confirmation hadnt come through for my tickets, even though i had resent them, it shows on my account online that i had booked and paid for but the man checking us on wanted to see the barcode... twenty minutes into the crossing it came through! Can you not make it so it is available on the account as well so this problem doesnt arise?

Red funnel is one of two options to take your car over to and from the Isle of Wight. Its great that you can get pretty good food onboard, but a big downside for me is that it takes so long. It takes an hour to get between the ports, then, depending where your car is parked onboard, can take a further 20 min to get off. Coupled with crossings every 90 mins means that it you time it wrong and just miss a ferry going to the Island, you could have a wait of over three hours before you arrive to your isle of wight destination. Toilets are bad, only three toilet cubicles for a lot of people and they smell, really bad.

I I would normally have given 5 Stars I was emailed by Red Funnel for the ferry I was to get has been cancelled due to technical issues and I had been put back until the 1930 sailing this wasn't a problem but but when I have return from Southampton earlier,I've had to pay a fee to make the crossing I just bought it would have been nice of Red Funnel make a Goodwill gesture for future crossings as I use quite a lot
