The page in question contained a 'Measure and fit' video in two different places - one part way down the page and one at the bottom. While the video was the same in both places, only at the bottom of the web page was it also accompanied with an instruction to 'deduct 4mm from measurements' that you would have thought vital to a bespoke product. The instruction wasn't in large, bold print, or bright red but rather beneath the video hyperlink in tiny grey print. The video itself, did not mention the 4mm deduction at all. This fitting video has also vanished from Crosby Blinds website too - though I also filmed this before they took it down. I notice that the new page no longer makes any mention of a 4mm deduction at all.
When my order of nearly £500-worth of bespoke blinds arrived, it was dumped outside my front door in the rain without the driver waiting to get a signature - which he was supposed to do. I managed to fit most of the blinds with considerable effort and assumed this was normal and simply caused by the resistance of the rubber seals. However, the final two blinds would not fit properly between the beading. Upon inspecting the blinds I'd fitted in better light, I could see they had abraded the rubber seals of my windows. I returned to the measure and fit instructions on the website which is when I noticed that there were two sets of instructions. I had used the measure and fit video which appeared first on the webpage and which didn't mention the deduction - hence the too-tight fit which abraded the seals of my brand new windows.
I contacted the company immediately and the response from then on was less than satisfactory. The company's representative started by making light of an expensive order being left in the rain. Subsequently, over a series of emails, he persistently refused to accept that because the blinds were 4mm longer than they should have been that they would be more difficult or impossible to fit. He refused to acknowledge that the now disappeared webpage contained conflicting measurement instructions. He also refused to accept any responsibility for damage to my beading. He seemed to be under the impression that because the blinds' brackets could slide under rubber seals for up to 10mm that there should be no problem despite my repeatedly explaining that it didn't matter how far under the seals the brackets could slide if the moving parts of the blinds were too wide to fit between the beading. He said I could return any blinds to be modified to 4mm smaller but when I pointed out that the beading on my widows would then incur further damaging abrasion, once again refused any liability for damage to the beading. In the end, I arranged to send two blinds back upon which it transpired that he couldn't have the blinds modified at all but would replace them instead. Interesting that this offer appeared once he knew I was only prepared to risk sending two blinds back rather than a whole consignment. At all times, his attitude was that Crosby Blinds had done nothing wrong. I am left with a complete set of blinds fitted, only two of which fit properly (and of course were no trouble at all to fit since they had the 4mm deduction) and seven damaged window seals which would cost £220.00 to replace. Even if I did, I would then need six of the blinds to be reduced by 4mm or replaced.
What should have happened from the moment the complaint was raised was for Crosby Blinds to acknowledge the confusion caused by their website, apologize, replace all blinds and replaced my beading.
The new webpage does appear to be much clearer - it no longer makes any mention of any 4mm deduction so hopefully no future customers will be misled. However, to have changed the page because I raised the issue (as appears to have happened) while maintaining to me that I had little cause for complaint seems like a tacit admission that I was right and a little underhand. You have been warned.

Perfect for our home & exceptional quality!
The service from them was also fantastic especially as I had measured incorrectly & had to order more for one window!
They pushed the boat out in getting new ones made & can see why they are highly recommended!

Most recently I made a mistake in measuring a blind that cost several hundred pounds. Rather than sell me a new blind which I thought would be the only option, Crosby arranged for the manufacturer to trim the blind.
Would very strongly recommend purchasing Blinds from Crosby.

I will definitely be recommending the bloc out blind to family and friends as since we fitted it, which was very easy, we have had amazing sleeps as it does what it says and blocs out any light, so much so you can't see the end of your nose and when you open it in the morning its like your having a torch shined in your eyes with the light. Well worth the money, wish we'd bought one sooner!!
When it comes to new blinds I will without hesitation be ordering again from Crosby Blinds. Our service and experience has been 5stars thank you.

Update: disappointed this time with some elements of the service. Unfortunately as a customer you don’t expect to be blamed for getting something wrong & TBH I am the first to admit if I am but Jen did blame me for a sizing issue. I had already sent a long detailed email of the 20+ blinds I wanted, emphasising they were ACTUAL size but needed to provide a colour for two of them. I agreed the details of sale on the order for the blinds excluding the two, no issues. Having confirmed the colour for the last two I was again sent an order confirmation, which I was asked to check but unbeknown to me, Jen had used their default sizing system for these two blinds. This resulted in the two blinds being narrower than ordered. When I queried this I was told I should have checked but let’s be honest about this, I had instructed you to place my order with ALL blinds as actual size, so you made the error of not following my instruction. Fortunately the blinds were being fitted to a door and therefore we got away with Crosby’s sizing error. My issue is your immediate defensive response of automatically blaming the customer. I have the email to prove my instructions to you and that is what you should have referred to when I sent my colour choice through. Shame really, as I believe they are a sound company that will try to help you buy what you want but this response was unreasonable and tainted my overall experience, hence the now average score.
