I bought a laptop battery from the online version of this store on April 21st 2009 because it was a good deal. I paid for and received the battery along with a receipt, nothing else.

The battery started to fail in mid to late July. Here was MY mistake. I did not immediately contact the store about the battery failure. I have a litany of excuses; vacation, business trip, ignorance etc. but all along i thought. "This store is an actual brick & mortar store, they'll treat me right" WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! a 'Jake' from the online division informed me it was past the 90 days. (by about 12 days) i pushed back. He referred me to the online warranty, 90 days. I asked to speak to his superior, he (jake) said no and "90 days".

What is most irritating about this experience is not that he would not bend on the 90 days, (he should have then, i would not be writing this review, but a good one) Nor is it that i was never able to talk to Jakes superior, (if you're doing a good job you have nothing to fear about this) but mostly that the battery was junk. Discount electronics sells CRAP. it's cheaper because it's cheap junk. The do not care about you as a customer, and they do not care about their name, and they do not care about their products. DO NOT BUY FROM DISCOUNT ELECTRONICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today's visit to the Discount Electronics store in South Austin was my first but will not be my last. Shelby provided excellent service as well as being very knowledgeable. The store is well-organized with a pleasant atmosphere. I have mentally added the wireless printer he showed me to a Wish List for my next visit. Great price and just what we need here at home. Highly recommend.

I am very disappointed the way Discount Electronics conducts business In a very deceiving manner.I bought a computer cord for fourty eight dollars my computer still didn't work,I took it back and they told me they could not refund my money I am a 71 year old man I cant see very well,They told me that was company policy.Christmas Eve day and they cant make an exception for a Senior Citzen,Bad Business If U ask me.The salesman never told me that the item was refurbished n that there was no refunds.I would never buy anything from Discount Electronics Buyer be Ware.

LOGAN AT 2206 NW LOOP 410 SAN ANTONIO TX 78230 WAS VERY HELPFUL TO ME 0N 9/13. HE SPENT OVER 2 HOURS WORKING ON MY LAPTOP. WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND EXPLAINED TO ME WHAT HE WAS DOING AND WHY. ALSO INSTALLED AN UPDATED VIRUS SOFTWARE FOR ME. THIS IS THE 2ND LAPTOP I HAVE BOUGHT FROM THIS COMPANY AND RECOMMEND it TO ALL MY FRIENDS. I WILL CONTINUE TO BUY MY COMPUTER STUFF FROM THIS COMPANY. My first lap top took almost 2 weeks to arrive. There was a mix up in delivery address not matching the billing address. That was corrected but they had cancelled the order and I had to re-order. Back and forth but finally received the computer. My second lap top shipped right away but arrived with two dents in the top on the computer and it would not charge up. The shipping department must have an ape packing the boxes. The computer had zero packing material inside the box and it rattled around during shipping and got damaged. There was about an inch of bubble wrap around the computer but nothing to hold it in a secured protected position. I complained so they had me return it. The replacement came back rattling around in the box but there appears to be no damage. It just does not make sense how they package shipments.

Website indicated that my item was in stock so I ordered it using 3 day priority delivery. After several days - nothing. I contacted them and they said it was back-ordered and would ship in a few days. Nothing! It has been more than a week now - nothing. Getting ready to cancel the order. Avoid this merchant!!!!

I bought 2 Dell 15" Ultrasharp monitors for $35 each-- they shipped well packed (no damage on arrival); when we noticed only 1 set of cords I called D/E and they immediately shipped the other power & VGA cords. The 2nd set arrived within 2 days. The agent who took my call was friendly and professional. Based on some prior negative feedback, I suspect they took that info to heart and made a change. I have been recommending them to friends and family-- my experience with D/E was SPECTACULAR!!!

I tried to buy 4 video cards with them (order 55135) using my AMEX card. Even though not an American citizen, my family owns a house in FL where we constantly travel and live for at least 3 months every year. However, their staff ignorantly refused to sell us the products by attesting they could only sell to customers with a US driver license. Do not recommend them at all!

Bought 2 used video cards $100 last year, they only had 2 in stock. They shipped one to me.
When I received it I went to their website and saw the same one for sale. I waited a day and called them, told them I only received 1 of them.
After review, the shipping weight of the package they sent, wouldnt have been possible to contain 2, they agreed to send me the one they just posted for sale,
the one I paid for but didnt receive. I wrote it off as a mistake on their part.
More recently I decided to give them another chance, test the waters before makin g any more expensive computer purchase.
So I read the reviews then took a chance on the 2 laptops offer. Both are boat anchors, heavy old windows xp clunkers stripped of all ram, hard drives, batteries,
dirty, definitely not worth the shipping cost, not worth repairing. I buy alot of computers and parts from other stores, as it is my life. I'd say after these 2 purchases from Discount Electronics,
that I will never take a chance on them again and purchase anything from them, ever!. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

i bought 8 gb of ram and after receiving it found that one chip was non functioning. they completely took care of me and issued more than half a refund for the one stick. the representative was very helpful and patient with me as i was slow to respond. will definitely consider them again!

I've been doing business with the store on Research for the better part of twenty years I have purchased desktop computers, laptop computers, and computer accessories there and always use then to service my computers. Took my laptop in this morning because wi-fi was not working - Patrick in Service showed me a switch that I did not know about and immediately resolved my problem - no muss - no fuss - no charge - my experience here has usually been very much the same as today - knowledgeable, friendly, professional staff who are a pleasure to do business with

I've been purchasing good used computers from Discount Computers on Anderson at 183 for some 7 years now. I like to have 2, one upstairs and 1 down, so 2 good, used computers is what I prefer. I see them as good used cars.

Each computer has served me well, and better, when I do have an issue with one (seldom), I've found the service people very happy to help. Today I took in my older computer because suddenly it would not boot. Patrick determined the hard drive was OK and said it must be the bios. As I was about to turn this machine in anyway, he took the hard drive out and encased it for me so I could continue to organize the data it held before shifting that data to the newer machine. Equally important, Patrick was able to give me clear answers to questions that were stumping me, so I can do better. I will continue to go here. Thanks to you, Patrick and all the fine staff who've preceeded you.
