We have had nothing but smooth sailing with Perry Homes since the first
day of questioning their sales staff. We found them to be refreshingly
honest and always helpful. The salesman we dealt with, Tony Weston, was
realistic in his advice regarding how long the build would take, and his
advice turned out to be spot on. Perry started our build in late
January 2014, and we moved in last Wednesday 21st May. Our building
supervisors, Jason and Greg, have been helpful, obliging and friendly
with everything we have asked of them. No question was out of bounds,
and no detail overlooked. As for the tradies who were employed on our
build, we cannot speak highly enough of them. They were all very
particular about their work, and took pride in it.
We found it very refreshing to have people around us who could `think
for themselves` and take the initiative when it came to making
decisions. At every stage we were consulted about the detail, to the
point where one day, we had a call from Greg to ask if we would like him
to arrange access so that we could measure up for blinds etc.
In all, we are more than happy with our experience with Perry Homes and
their Port Macquarie office. After speaking to a few of our new
neighbours, we have been told that they wished that they had had a
similar experience to ours, not the ones that they endured with other
builders.
In short, dealing with Perry was a pleasure, and we really would recommend them.
Professional and honest attitude.

My custom design home was well planned under first class qualified builder John Vos that had exceptional high qualified tradesman
In all I can only say that my house is perfect. From day one to end of the construction I received weekly progress and update with photos. The hand over was wonderful and most memorable day.

We signed up with Perry in Aug 2016 and the sales and planning were fantastic. During the build was also great but it was when we handed over the final cheque it went down hill. We had issues picked up from before our final inspection still not completed on hand over day. We were promised all issues would be rectified within 7 days, and here we are week 10 in our home and FINALLY have these jobs completed today! It's such a shame because everything was great until we got keys. No one seems to want to follow up on jobs once your hard earned money is in their hands. The quality of our home is good but the post handover process has been exhausting and embarrassing, to say the least.

I gave 1 stars because of construction period is the only one that I liked from Perry homes which is they made shorter term to get the key. Otherwise want to give None of star!

Here is issues you could get when you build from Perry Homes with unprofessional builder

You can live with No GAS (no hot water or cooking - I had to stay for 2 days without gas with 10 months old baby which I asked to check up when we hand over, but builder denied).

You can live with wrong Watertank came and eventually blow up, couldn't use for 2-3months and replacement took total 5 months -I had to chase up more than 100 times by myself.(when wrong model delivered builder shouldn't allow to install)

You can live with Gyprock glue still able to see from the wall after all painting done. (This is still issue for us till now) Perry Homes saying this is normal and they did 3 coat applied....
But your wall looks like dusty and messy, you can still see all gyprock colour or glue shadow.
requested re painting but Perry homes denied and not providing reasonable evidence that they applied 3 coats and they will ask to pay extra to check up which paint thickness check,

Also the most Disgusting is you can live with more than 100 flies at Rangehood at Kitchen and Perry homes said this is because of area of we build. But no ones our neighbours has same problem even our next door build from Perry homes or same home design build from Perry homes which is my friend.
its summer now and every single day fly coming into our rangehood while I cook, and really DISGUSTING....

and Now we found water damage at Eve...not sure how lone its going to be to fix..

Few issues was obviously our builder didn't to his duty properly, but there is senior builder who can fix our problems asap and follow up. but everyone is slow and they don't want to do it after hand over even 6 months review.

So if you build your home from Perry Homes you have to accept these situation. Huge disappointing and frustrating all the time when you contact them. also letting you guys know I mentioned above problems only big issues..

Roman from the display house in Ballina is outstanding at his job! He alone is a 10 out of 10. The build was a pretty smooth process afew oittke things here and there but that is expected I think. Aiden at the after service was great to talk to aswell, we had an issue with a pipe and the door handle isn't installed right but has all been fixed and sorted.
Really happy with everyone from Perry, we have just signed up to build another house what you guys and fingered crossed for another easy build!

Thanks team!

From day one nothing but lies lies lies from Perry Homes foreman and chain of command. My house is a living nightmare and it has been a battle with Perry Homes since day one. This is the dream home Perry Homes promised me. My house has moved, cracked, broken, been poorly constructed, paintwork has not been finished from the start and the house has been poorly finished and many things need finishing from the initial changeover. The concrete house slab has cracked in several places from day one and continues to do so. My house has movement in several rooms which makes every door either jamb and stop it from closing and other doors won't stay closed as the striker does not align correctly from the movement. The cornice work is separating from the gyprock in several places and this has been repaired twice already. I have cracked floor tiles throughout the house. My walls are separating from the floor and you can put your small finger in and this is also in my shower areas which has created mould in behind the tiles. There are numerous roof tiles that have cracked including moved pointing. There are several windows that leak and the window frame paint has blistered from the water damage.
This review will be added to...daily like a log.... it's a real pity I can't add photos yet.

This was our first build so we did not know what to expect, but from the sales team to the building supervisor, everyone at Perry Homes was joy to deal with. They were always friendly, patient and professional. The house was constructed on time, and the few minor defects that were found were immediately rectified. We are very happy with the quality of the build and the professional service provided before, during and after the building process. I highly recommend building with Perry Homes, and i would not hesitate to use them again.

We built with perry homes during 2012/13. The Sales staff, in the Toowoomba office, were where the positive experience ended.
The foreman we were allocated was more interested in when he was knocking off than engaging with us and was only really available when he wanted something signed.
The overall finish of the house was nothing like as described and when we submitted our feedback form we received one very patronising phone call that led to nothing happening to rectify our issues.

This is repeated several times on this very forum by the responses to customers complaints, you can read them just as we have all these people cant be wrong.
We have since placed in our six month inspection report and three months after still don't have most of the works finished.
It is pretty simple really when you go and buy a new car and find there is some sort of issue reputable car yards repair, replace, rectify or reimburse. Why then when you spend ten times that amount of money does this builder not apply this type of customer service.
We have built or renovated several homes in the last few years and we can describe our building experience as the worst we have had.

The advice that we can provide after our experience is to firstly ask "do you want the negative experience that we and many others on here describe"? and "why with so many negative comments across several building areas haven't they fixed this up"?
If you are seeking a building experience that leaves you happy and enjoying the building experience I would suggest checking out a lot of other builders before using these guys. I know we will never recommend nor build with them ever again.
The sales staff
The handover, the repairs, the building experience, the final finish.

We moved into our new Perry home on the 15/4/ 2015. On the 25/11/2015 we alerted Perry Homes of the buckled bamboo floor in our main bedroom and through The Great room. We stepped over the tented floor which rose from 3.5cm to 6.5cm for 3 months before a board was removed throughout, so it would lay flat as it was a trip hazard. On 16/3/2016 the Perry Homes site manager removed the skirting boards. It was obvious the floor had nowhere to expand to. The bamboo problem was present for almost 7 months before it was removed and replaced with an oak floor on the 22/6/2016.a carpenter completed fixing the recommended 19mm skirting boards. On 4/7/16 painters painted the skirting boards.
On 22/2/2016, Perry Homes site manager was present and notified of a water issue in the ensuite. On 23/11/15 cracked tiles were identified in the ensuite. The kickboard was sodden and swollen. On 11/4/2016, the shower was waterproofed, the kickboard was replaced and tiled. On the 11/1/2017, the shower leak reoccurred. On 18/1/2017, the Perry Homes site manager sawed 1cm off the bottom of the ensuite door jam and dirty water poured out onto the floor tiles. The shower had been water proofed 3 times. On13/9/2017, we alerted Perry Homes of the reappearance of a leak in the shower. On 14/9/2017, two Perry Homes men inspected the leak area. On 20/9/2017, Banana Coast removed the shower tiles and waterproofing. The problem was found to be a faulty washer in the hot water shower tap.
On 7/12/2017, the ensuite architrave was attached and undercoated. He also applied a strong render mixture to the deteriorating concrete edge on the verandah.
Perry Homes was notified about a broken stormwater pipe at the front of the house. There were 3 holes and it took the concreter 3 months to fix the problem.
A spoon drain was drawn on our plans but never constructed. It should have been at the front of the house at “the base of the cut batter to divert runoff.”
Building our retirement dream home turned into a nightmare.

From the beginning of our journey into a new house we received excellent service and advice from the Perry's consultant at Ballina and this continued into the building of our house with the building supervisor. They were very professional and were very willing to offer advice if they didn't think our ideas would fit, which we appreciated. The build was completed on time and we are very pleased with the outcome.

Perry homes has just completed my first home, overall the experience has been amazing right from the start when I walked into the show home and met Todd. Todd treated me with such respect and made the process fun, relaxed and overall so easy. Everything went smoothly and I was kept updated throughout the entire process, the building site manager John was so welcoming, helpful, honest and friendly..I can not fault the home its absolutely beautiful, I would not change a thing..far exceeded my expectations considering my budget! Perry homes made my dream a reality and I will be forever grateful, I highly recommend this company and if I were too build again in the future I would look no further.

We built with Perry Homes some years ago now it was our first home which we still live in today. I found them to be very provisional right through the hole process from designing our home, signing the contract, submitting to council for approval, building stage and then the maintenance which minimal. I had a friend building with a very small builder a more customized I suppose but their house seemed to take I would say at least twice as long. We signed our contract like 3-4 months after them and we were in our home about 5 months before them. Which is why I wanted to go with a more experienced builder otherwise your wasting money paying interest on the land. We have had nothing I could not fix with a Philips head screw driver and shifter since the maintenance period finished and I would put that down to the kids. I highly recommend Perry Homes and looking forward to building another house with them.

Right from the start we were completely comfortable in building our new home as this is our second Perry Home in 3 Years. We went to a custom design with our new home and Perrys delivered a perfect outcome for what we wanted. The admin side and colours is so easy as these guys have great systems in place and make it so streamline. From the start of the build our supervisor kept us informed of what was happening and when so there were never any grey areas.Couldnt be more happier with our home and would highly recommend Perry Homes as your next builder.

We purchased a spec home from Perry's 2.5 years ago and the whole process was smooth and super easy. I had a 4 week old baby at the time and this was our first home. The house itself was perfect. We have had no issues with the workmanship and they even sent the local supervisor out after 6 months to touch up a few very minor cracks in paintwork and to rebalance our ceiling fans to make them quieter. They were literally the only faults we could find in an entire house! Buying a spec home was a far less stressful way to "build a house" and we still love our home to this day!

We bought a ready to move in house from Perry Homes in Armidale NSW 2350 in June 2017 and would like to share our experience with Perry Homes. As we are completing our first Three months in our new home, we haven't noticed any major issues. I should say that the customer service was great from the beginning. The representative was able to help us through all the process of the purchase and was quick in fixing the little issues that we found. We are really satisfied with the Perry Homes with their services till today.

On our acreage block, wanting to build a new 2017 home, I asked a building inspector for a reliable Builder whom he could recommend, straight away said, " PERRY'S ".after meeting a Perry's rep., we chose, " The Courthouse, " this Country design home with different choice fascias jumped at us. Later we made colour choices with nominated Suppliers getting helpful advice from Suppliers and Perry's Interior design Manager, Mr.Scott Kilburn, making the choice journey easier. Our appointed site Manager was great, the build was well managed along with customer service support, Would we build with Perry's again YES we would without hesitation, when the Supplier delivered wrong front double doors, they were promptly returned for the right ones, when the carpet supplier laid carpet with a different colour choice, needing to be a definite grey not a beige tone, the correct one was laid no fuss.
With lots of houses going up we understand supplier error may happen which did not phase us as we had the right support.
We lived on site being able to watch all the coming and going of Suppliers & Tradesmen daily to the finish, a wonderful experience.

Perry did a fantastic job overall with our house, our block had difficult topography and they went to the trouble of reengineering one of their floor plans (Seville) to allow for a split level to meet council requirements. Couldn't be happier with how it turned out, the engineering of the split allowed for almost 3 meter ceiling heights throughout the living and master suite that gave the place an extra spacious feel. We also love the big summer lounge area that is incorporated under roof, this gets lots of use all year round especially with the addition of outdoor blinds. Thanks again Chris, Brett and the Perry team.

After seeing the other opinions on here I felt that everyone only writes about thier bad experiences never the good, so, I have built 11 homes over the years and have since built twice with Perry Homes and am very happy with the process (quick and simple)as a whole, the people from start to finish are down to earth, professional and very helpful and I will be using them for my next one....
Level of inclusions is high and build time reasonably quick
I wish I had found them years ago.

I should have known better when the site supervisor said "what did you expect for what you paid". Jobs are rushed and not done properly the first time. They pay the contractors poorly so they rush the jobs. We are still in a battle to get our house finished, and I keep finding things that have not been done properly. I worry the house will fall on us. Perrys can go to hell. BUT I BET THEY GO BANKRUPT FIRST AND THEN MY GUARANTEE WILL BE WORTH NOTHING!!
> We are now on our 4th Site Supervisor. Still getting the run around. Still battling Perrys Homes. No one is accepting responsibility to get things fixed. What a nightmare!!
>> So, this whole process of building with Perry's is beyond a joke and getting dangerous for my family (not that the insecure internal stair hand rails and external deck balustrades weren't already dangerous enough).

Firstly, the list of incomplete items has not been completed. I can no longer contact anyone, and no one is returning my phone calls. The inspector or supervisor, or what ever, is incognito, haven't heard from him in weeks.

Secondly, I have now found the downstairs bathroom en-suite fan vents into the roof space, and does not connect to the outside; thus pushing moisture into our wood work, so either it will degrade and fall down injuring my family, or give us ill health through mold, bacteria and spores. This is the same up stairs also, noting there is sarking in the roof. Worse is that the rangehood fan duct goes into a closed roof space and is covered by insulation, so that it has the added risk of starting a fire!!!

Are Perry Home's negligent or deliberately cutting corners and trying to cause harm. This is ridiculous.

So now our house is not safe and not livable as we can't use out stove.

I expect Perry Homes will fob me off again. So I've already started putting together a QBCC complaint.

FYI:

Australian Building Code Paragraph 3.8.5.0 states:
Performance requirement P2.4.5 is satisfied for mechanical ventilation system if it is installed in accordance with AS 1668.2. "Mechanical ventilation for acceptable indoor air quality", except that any contaminated air from a sanitary
compartment or bathroom must:

(a) Exhaust directly to outside the building by way of ducts; or
(b) Exhaust into the roof space provided:

It is adequately ventilated by open eaves, and/or roof vents; or
The roof is clad in roofing tiles without sarking or similar materials, which would prevent venting through gaps between tiles.

I can honestly say it was a positive experience with Perry Homes and it started very well with the salesman. He was helpful, informative and spoke no non sense. He was honest which I found to be a difficult attribute to find amongst other salespersons from other builders. From the preliminary tender to the final tender, the prices basically didn't change and there were no hidden surprises, which I was afraid of. The site works that we were quoted was almost spot on from what the salesman quoted us. The build time went a little over schedule, but that was due to environmental issues, and out of the builders hands. The site supervisor was helpful and good to deal with. The quality of the home was good and I was satisfied with the finished product, in saying that it was an investment property for me and I did stick mostly with the builders range of materials (nothing extravagant). After the keys were handed over my tenants did report some minor issues, like some water leaks to the outside tank pump and a window issue and that was sorted out by the builder with minimal delay. If I was to build again in the same area (Old Bar NSW) I would definitely go with Perry Homes again.
