So the Famous Haute Route….. or part of it at least! Here is my review from the Haute Route trip with Adventure Base. Overall a sensational few days, and only mother nature stopped us completing the most famous ski touring route in the world. Day 0: Arrived in Chamonix at around 4.30pm, and walked to the hotel where we were staying. The Six Nations rugby was on so dropped my bags and went to watch the rugby. At 8pm we (myself, Gregg and Andrew) met our guide Miha. He was a Slovenian mountain guide who discussed the route, the potential weather (good for the first part of the week, mixed thereafter) and we did a kit check list (see later for advice on kit!) We had some dinner at the hotel, then an early night. Day 1: Woke at 7.30 and had a last breakfast in civilisation before hiring skis and meeting Miha at the hotel at 9am. We had a 20 min drive to Argentière, before taking the Grandes Montes cable car to the top of the col des Grandes Mottes. This took nearly 3 hrs, but once there we skied the Glacier des Rognons to the Glacier d'Argentière. Skinned up for about 1hr (220m), before practicing techniques such as the 'kick turn', (a method to turn on a steep face) before arriving at the refuge d'Argentière at 3pm. We found our room with 13 beds!, before going outside to do some avalanche training, and then dinner at 6.30pm. This was soup, some couscous and Bolognese sauce, and a crème brûlée for pudding. Nearly 100 people crammed in, made for a lively atmosphere. We had an early night in the 13 man dorm was a little hot and sweaty... but not too many snorers! The Bottled water market was at €6 for 1.5 litres tonight, will be interesting to see how much this changes as the week goes on! Total ascent: 210m Total descent: 665m Day 2: This was the first big day. We woke at 5.30am and had breakfast at 6am. Crazy amount of people at the refuge, but we were the first to leave. We skied down a rather icy Glacier d'Argentière, before arriving at the base of the col du Passon. This was a 650m climb to the top, which included a very steep section at the couloir, requiring crampons to walk the last 50m up to the top. It was made worthwhile by a stunning cloudless view at the top. This was followed by a short but powder ski down to a hot and open powder bowl on the Glacier du Tour. We then skinned a flat section in the bowl, where there were 3 airplanes practicing landing and taking off (magical at first, slightly annoying after a while). After some lunch (the refuges provide packed lunches, sandwich, fruit, chocolate bar and fizzy drink), we ascended the col du supérieur (350m of vertical ascent) with a very steep last section through the couloir (scramble with crampons) to the summit where we were given a spectacular view of the Swiss alps one way and the French alps the other. We then skied the Plateau du Trient, via the Col d'Orny to the base of the Cabane du Trient. A short skin up for 20 mins (80m vertical) to the hut followed and we were the first to arrive and sat overlooking the Plateau du Trient, which provided some sensational views. The weather was warm although windy at 3170m high. The dinner was delicious, soup followed by salad, then rice and meat and then meringue and strawberries for pudding. The bottled water market had increased to €10 a bottle (or Swiss francs..) although there's not much you can do about it... a better nights sleep, only 10 in a dormitory this time! A hard and hot day, but an amazing view to top it off. Total ascent: 1,100m Total descent: 700m Day 3: Transition day from the Mont Blanc range to the Valais range. Up again at 5.30, with a delicious Swiss breakfast before a 6.30 start. We descended the Glacier du Trient, before bearing right to the Col des Écandies. This was a very steep section, a mixture of ice and rock. We were roped together for an exhilarating 50m climb to the top of the col. Not for the faint hearted! The view at the top was sensational, with the clouds covering the valley and a beautiful view over both mountain ranges. This was followed by a 1,400m descent down to Champex. The snow conditions at the top were good, but it became tough and very icy further down. We arrived in Champex at around 8.15, before a taxi to Verbier. After a cable car to the col des Gentianes, we skinned up to the Col de la Chaux, which was 240m of ascent. The view at the top was again sensational. We skied down to the Lac du Mont Fort before another short skin up to the Col de Monin (250m) and another climb up to the Rosa Blanche (150m). This gave us our first spectacular view of the Matterhorn. The ski down the Glacier de Prafleuri was sensational powder, down 500m to the Cabane de Prafleuri. The Cabane was bathed in sunshine, and a delicious cup of tea and a cold beer soothed the aching muscles. Dinner was delicious, and then headed to bed, for a long night after a good game of shithead and cheat! Total ascent: 850m Total descent: 2,970m Day 4: We woke to some very mixed weather. Miha has told us the night before that the weather was due to get bad. The weather did clear enough and we skinned for 1hr (c200m) to the top of the Col des Roux. Following this we traversed the Lac Dix before entering a white out. We got lost and ended up having to ski down before traversing back up to the path. The lake is the largest man made lake in Switzerland, and during brief breaks in the cloud it was spectacular. After leaving the lake we skinned up to the Cabane du Dix. The final section was incredibly steep and with gale force winds and snow, was an awesome challenge. Once there we looked at the weather forecast, which was turning for the worse, so Miha decided that we would descend to Arolla. We descended to a point before putting skins first, then crampons to ascend to the (fond name). This involved a 30m ladder climb (fortunately they had replaced the old ladder, which was a brutal 30m single climb with no fencing. A final descent into Arolla, before a welcome pint (or 3), and a drive all the way back to Chamonix. A sad day in some ways, but the correct decision. Total ascent: 837m Total descent: 533m (excluding decent to Arolla) We spent the next 2 days day touring around Chamonix. The First day the weather was good enough to embark on the Day Tour over the back of Le Flegere to Le Beut. spectacular views once again. Kit: This is probably the most important bit of all of this…. Backpack – a hiking touring backpack. I had an off piste bag with an avalanche ABS. Skis - touring skis with skins - must be lightweight, you don't want to be shifting bricks on your feet! Poles - adjustable height, and big base! - Hold on to your poles, noting more annoying than climbing back down! Ice axe - small fits on the back of your pack - mine was huge and looked like a flag pole! Crampons – lightweight Ski Crampons – make sure they fit your skis! Base layer - essential and preferably light in colour. White reflects, black absorbs! Touring jacket/vest - Best thing to have as this is what the guide had! Ski touring trousers - tight fit anything too baggy and it will rub! Down jacket - easy to put on when you stop/ take off when you walk Waterproof jacket – in case the weather closes in. Lightweight wind protector is best! Socks (2pairs) - most important item as they look after the most important thing! your feet! Toothbrush - cut it in half! Small deodorant can - you will smell, but a shower in a can - there are no showers in the refuges! Harness - you can hire one if you don't have one. essential Phone - and charger! refuges have plugs, but bring an adaptor! Wallet - the water is very expensive! Camelback - mine broke.... but I imagine it would be useful Cap - to try to stop you getting burnt Sun cream - lots of it, you will get burnt, and you will know about it! Sunglasses - obviously Goggles - if it snows, I didn’t use them personally Helmet - I bought one, no one else in my group had one... Torch - imagine navigating your way around a 13 person dorm in the dark... Kindle - sometimes you arrive at the refuge at 2pm. some reading material will keep you sane! NOTHING ELSE! anything else is a waste of both space and weight. you can pick up food and water Overall a fantastic experience, curtailed by the weather. Time to try again next year! Seb

Well I purchased a scratch & dent insurance policy from this company. After about 7 month I had to make a claim from some scratches and a minor dent. The scratched were under the length limit as per policy. I sent them pictures and without even sending someone to look at the car they rejected my claim stating that the scratches are too deep! So essentially they are selling you a policy for minor scratches which one can easily remove using scratch removing creams like T-Cuts. Customers are duped into thinking that a deep scratch or dent would be covered but they are not. Only those scratches are covered that could be easily removed at home by the policy holder. Don't waste your £160/Year for nothing instead give business to local body shops to get deep scratches removed at fraction of price. You can always remove light scratches yourself with T-Cut!!!!

When my family ask me to come home from Bangkok to Amsterdam the 18nd of March because of COVID-19. I booked a flight with Gate1 for a day later which was "Automatically cancelled" the same hour I purchased it. The ticket was almost 700 euro. In their email, they said I would receive a refund to my account within 2 working days. I needed to spend a 1000 euro more to come home in this time. That was March 19 2020. They are unreachable.

I have tried, unsuccessfully, for nearly 12 months to get rid of mice in my home. I used all the other traps available but to no avail. Finally I purchased the glue traps as a last resort and am now, thankfully, mouse free. They did the job immediately and I would recommend them to anyone else who is at their wits end as I was seeing mice running through my house.

I ordered some diamond dots. As I’m working on it I ran out of a particular color. I reached out to them and they advised to send them a picture. I did and since then I have received no response. I have reached out multiple times with no response and no I’m unable to contact them or comment on their page. It sounds like they are wanting to run away from the issue at hand. It’s very frustrating, never received an apology or anything. If they are unable to assist they should at least say so and not leave me in the dark. From other comments I’ve seen it has happened to others as well. I’m not sure if any others were able to resolve their issues but this is getting ridiculous.

I loved that I could take the courses when I had time- whether it was 15 minutes here and there throughout the day or a couple hours in the middle of the night. The materials were very thorough. I am old-school film and hadn't really gotten into digital other than point and shoot. This was as good, if not better than any physical class that I've had in the past.

Although I had been doing amateur photography for about 5 years, I had never actually done a qualification or been taught so thought I'd give it a shot with the good value for money on groupon. The course was excellent. Although some aspects I was aware of, there were loads of other stuff I didn't know at all and probably never would have if it wasn't for this course. Easy to understand but not too basic to be bored. The tutors get back in touch with you within a day and give constructive feedback on your photos. The tests at the end of each module were a good idea. With a 98% completion rate, I'm extremely happy and would highly recommend anyone to give this a go. :)

I also completed the ABBE Level 4 course in building thermography with James Hill recently but cannot agree fully with all his sentiments unfortunately. This course is extremely time-heavy, a fact that was not made clear before we paid for the course. Parts of the course material are technically flawed and overall it is limited. Learners are expected to undergo various examinations without very much at all to go on. The marriage between the initial 4-5 day training days, the iRed Handbook, the course submissions, including numerous surveys, and the examinations is poor imo - it is broken and does not work. I have tried to give my constructive feedback to iRed & indeed ABBE in this respect on a number of occasions now. Do not expect to qualify for at least one year. It is a shame, as on paper, this is a good course. I cannot recommend that any building thermographers should take this course - ITC Cat 1 or Cat 2 is much better in terms of timings, course material and examination preparations. My review, which is meant as honest feedback, does not in any way reflect negatively on my course instructor, Bruce Arnold, or indeed any other course that iRed may provide.

I bought an orange reflective safety raincoat from ISC Online more than one year ago, and I was treated well as a customer. I received many positive remarks from coworkers about the raincoat and it was eventually stolen, which is another effective but awkward indicator of it's value. When I bought an identical raincoat to replace the stolen one, the price had actually come down. I am very happy with ISC Online, and thank you. There is nowhere to get these safety raincoats locally that I am aware of.

Well I did that but it was past the 3 month period that they could investigate so I contacted Extreme Fairings again and some random man said they would get it to me by April if 2019. It is now almost February 2020 and I have no body kit and no refund.

I have a cbr600rr 2017 and there are a couple of aftermarket fairing companies out there that make these fairings. Ebay, absfairings, monster, etc. I choose extreme fairings based on the reviews and i was not dissapointed. I ordered my parts august and they arrived in september. About 1 month in total as expected. The paint and clear coat was amazing. They fitted just the same as the original oem.

George is by far the most polite and knowledgeable recruiter I've worked with in a long time. He went to great lengths to prepare me for both telephone and face-to-face interviews. In the end, I agree with the hiring manager's decision that I was not the most qualified candidate for the position. If the hiring manager was having a bad day and made a bad read and hired you, or if you were BS'ing about your skills or ability to apply them, in a tech job you'll be smoked out and dispatched within one week by any competent manager. -- I spoke with George after each interview, gave him feedback about the company, each person I interviewed with, and how I rated my skill set versus what I think thought the company was looking for. Writing functional specifications are important to me, but for this company, for reasons that are none of my business, I was told they didn’t write specifications as other priorities ranked higher. Myself ? I must have a measure of where the finish line is if I'm working towards a stated goal regardless of how many times the finish line is moved. I think it demonstrates organization and discipline. Interviewing is a dialog, not a monolog, and George was genuinely interested in what I had to say each time we spoke. He was always patient, polite, and worked harder than any recruiter in recent memory to provide suggestions, advice, and potential interview questions based on similar job positions he had filled at other companies in the past. -- Working with George was a wonderful experience and I’m sure you’ll say the same thing. 5+ star rating for George Atuahene and the Kofi Group ! Parts not posted after one week. Telephoned to enquire and told by email that there is a slight delay and it will be posted 'tomorrow' - Tuesday. I will hopefully receive it on Wednesday but that will be too late for my current needs of security. It would have been much better had I been warned when you knew you had a problem. As a result my Defender will be at extra risk for 48 hours. Unsatisfactory!

Dit bedrijf is gevestigd in Andalusië wat betekent dat ze niet onder het Europese consumentenrecht vallen. Als een levering mislukt weigeren ze een terugbetaling. De Europese ombudsdienst voor consumenten is hiervan op de hoogte en voert een onderzoek met hun inspectiedienst. Maar helaas zullen ze niet veel kunnen doen omdat het bedrijf niet binnen Europa gevestigd is. Ze raden aan hier niet te bestellen maar indien je het toch doet, betaal dan met VISA of MASTERCARD. Bij hen kan je een terugbetaling regelen buiten het bedrijf om. Vermijd een hoop gedoe en betaal een paar euro meer bij een online webshop dat wel gevestigd is binnen de Europese Unie.

Ordered 4 items and received the order quick considering it came from Germany ... BUT ... 1 item was wrong, at first i though I had made an error but after reviewing the order I see they (Bikester.dk) made the mistake and sent me the wrong item. I emailed customer service and got a reply telling me if I ordered the wrong item I should just refuse the package. I responded to the email saying I didn't order the wrong item, you (bikester.dk) sent the wrong item and the other 3 items where correct. I also pointed out that there website shows a picture of the wrong item under the description of the item I ordered. They responded "It is always a good idea to read the specifications and not only trust the pictures." ... how condescending!!! I ordered the item based on the specification and apparently they didn't take their own advise and shipped based on a picture. I ended keeping the wrong item and using in lieu of the what I actually ordered because I can't trust they can resolve the issue correctly or refund my money. Seriously can't understand why they would repeatedly blame a customer for being at fault when they made the mistake, I will order parts elsewhere in the future.

Brought a Ortler Monet Citybike 45 The bad: Bought a bike and the description said 26" wheels but the bike that arrived had 28" wheels. The description also didn't mention anything about a foot-brake. It said V-brake on back and front wheel which was what I wanted. But it unfortunately also had foot-brake. The good: Build quality seems to be ok. Somewhat fast delivery

I accidently drilled into the wiring of my AC compressor and it was a hot Saturday evening, I called Brandon Electric as they helped me in the past at a previous house I owned, Keiv came out to help me in my desperate need of AC and he worked for over 2 1/2 hours pounding out room for an electrical box to be set in the concrete section of where the wiring box would have to be mounted. Needless to say he worked his butt off to get the job done! I have a service contract with Service America, they couldn't make it till the next day and Brandon Electric came out that evening and got the job done for a lot less than I expected. Thank you and thank you Keiv for your hard work!

Brandon Electric Inc, the Owner Mr Corey Gomis, Mr Pepper Pelham (Service Manager), Mr Chris Matthews (Service Manager) and most importantly Mr Daniel DeBaets have performed a miracle for a 73-year Senior Citizen - Ms June Limauro at 8413 N. Taliaferro Ave, Tampa, FL 33604. Ms June Limauro's house had been stuck by lightning (2 months ago). The wiring to her house was destroyed completely. She could not pay the bill ($3,150.00). I called Brandon Electric for an estimate, which was done by Daniel. I got a call from Chris that his company would make repairs for Ms June Limauro at no COST. Daniel and Joe (his assistant) worked thru the rain and got the wiring completed. Miracles DO HAPPEN and BRANDON ELECTRIC is wonderful I will be a ONE-MAN story teller about Brandon Electric Thank you and May God Bless all of you

I was waiting for my parcel one week. DHL said they rang on my door on Wednesday and Monday but they didn't. I finally had to pick up the parcel myself because they were not capable to deliver the parcel. Never had these problems before with any other service. Please switch to UPS, GLS, Postdenmark or any other shipper than DHL.

My Sincere “THANK YOU” Liam & Freewheel Being a rider for over 40 years with little technical expertise and keeping up with bicycle development I decided as a dedicated fan my cycling team, Madison Genesis to purchase a bike to go with their outfit in time for Semaine Fédérale 2019 in France. I was contacted by Maddison regarding the possibility of a used team frame which later transpired non availability of a medium size frame but I was directed to their authorised distributor freewheel for a new one at a discounted price. In midst of all excitement I duly followed the instruction and happily clicked on the link and ordered myself what supposed to be my star possession. I received a few days later and Xmas came, thought no more about it but after when I took it to my cycle shop / mechanic Paul Hewitt cycle for building it as bike I was duly informed that it was a disc frame?! As what he meant well his explanation was a bitter pill to swallow. Paul advised to contact Freewheel or Maddison for a replacement which I did but none was available. A Bummer! Well dejected and swallowing my bitter pills with pride? I was offered a refund which I don’t believe they were obliged to do so but gracefully received however, I have gone back to where I was “waiting for the ever illusive Maddison bike). During this experience what surprised me the most was receiving the best customer service from Liam at Freewheel whom I cannot thank him and freewheel enough for their advice, assistant, support and most of all the gesture of goodwill. These kinds of organisations are a dying breed as we live in the world what I believe grab and run. My Sincere “THANK YOU” Liam & Freewheel
